Oh, AFOLs...

Translation:

LEGO, I'm about to tell you how to run your business as I alone only know.

  1. You can't make your own business decisions. Only we entitled AFOLs hold that power, and you must bend to our wills or by God we will throw the biggest tantrums.
  2. You made your own hiring and business decisions? Pitiful. Fire everyone, and only hire the people I want you to hire. Like me. I will make only the best sets. No respect for my wonderfulness.
  3. I paid a metric tonne to have the original set and now I look like an idiot and it's all your fault.

So Lego, learn from this big mistake. Cater to me personally instead of the market.

(I hold no strong opinions one way or another on the rerelease, but the entitlement that oozes from every word of this comment made me cackle.)

Brickset news comments tend to be a special kind of crazy. I've actually been surprised by the number of positive comments I've seen elsewhere—including a lot along the lines of "I'd be upset if I had bought the original, but I didn't, so I'm going to buy this one". Comments like that make me think Lego made a good call with this set.

I wonder if we'll see any similar remakes in future years. An updated Café Corner would make a decent model for the ten-year anniversary of the Modular Buildings in two years, and arguably that set is even more in need of an update than this one, to bring it up to the standard of detail typical of modern modulars.

That is an AFOL?

Nah.

That is an entitled child on BZPower, circa about 2008 or so.

An entitled child on BZP from 2008 might well be an AFOL today! The evidence was in front of us all along! Wake up sheeple!

Children are right to be entitled about Lego though. It's Lego. A toy. For children.

Only an adult acts like this.

Technically, some of the comments there COULD be from children, since I'm pretty sure Brickset accounts don't have an age limit. Only accounts on the Brickset forums do (16), and you don't need a forum account to post comments on news articles.

But yeah, he says he "got out of his dark ages too late", which means yeah, it's an adult (if the entitlement wasn't enough to clue you in).

Only an adult acts like this.

"He could hear Father's voice: 'For children love is a feeling; for adults, it is a decision. Children wait to learn if their love is true by seeing how long it lasts; adults make their love true by never wavering from their commitment.'

Yes, well, Rigg knew enough of the world by now to suspect that that by that definition, adults were rare and children could be found at any age." -Pathfinder by Orson Scott Card

I really hate that spoilt, entitled child attitude. I also see it in other places outside the LEGO community. I've learnt that the best you can do is ignore it and move on.
