It came out today and I am both impatient and unstoppable, so I took a detour between classes and scooped it up! Kinda shocked that it's like $70 USD, makes me wonder why they even considered how 'child-friendly' it is at such a price point, but honestly I've been out of touch with LEGO's price dynamics for like a decade so I have no idea what's reasonable anymore.

Can't wait to crack it open and build it, but I will say right away that the box is gorgeous and very nicely made. That's my, uh, review. Nice box. 10/10 :P

ALSO 'HEAVEN SENT' IS PROBABLY ONE OF IF NOT THE BEST EPISODE OF DOCTOR WHO EVER OH MY GOD IM STILL NOT OVER IT I'VE WATCHED LIKE A DOZEN TIMES ALREADY AND IT STILL GIVES ME GOOSEBUMPS

EDIT: I can't believe I went through all the trouble I did before making this post to prepare a photo of the set and never actual put it in

The U.S. price is actually just $59.99. Though I guess the store you bought it at might've had it marked up.

$60 for a LEGO set is not really unusual, and for a 623-piece set it's a very good value for money. Most big LEGO castles and pirate ships over the years have been at least $100. Black Seas Barracuda, one of the most beloved LEGO pirate ships of all time, cost $110 way back in 1989, which would be like $213 today! Also, this year's LEGO City Square set is aimed at ages 6–12 (considerably younger than the Doctor Who set's 10+ age range) and that costs $180.

So yeah, LEGO has always been an expensive toy, and when we start to realize this as adults I think it's important to thank our parents for being so generous when we were kids!
