Thoughts on War for the Planet of the Apes Trailer

Man, a LOT of trailers have come out in the past week. Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Transformers: The Last Knight, Fast and Furious 8, etc. And along with those came this trailer for War for the Planet of the Apes.

I've enjoyed the first two movies of this rebooted franchise. In fact, I think Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the movie before this one, is one of the best sequels ever made in a trilogy. The ending of that movie left me excited for WftPotA, and this trailer only fuels that excitement.

I think that the tone and music in this are great. I'm also really excited to see Woody Harrelson in this, as I think he's a good actor and will make an interesting opponent for Caesar and his fellow Apes.

Overall, this movie is high on my list of movies that I want to see in 2017. I just hope it lives up to its predecessors.

What do you all think of this trailer? Will you be seeing War for the Planet of the Apes?

As a human, I find this franchise in very poor taste.  Why would I want to see the historical chronicle of how our simian overlords managed to conquer and enslave us?  I'd like to see Bananawood come out with a movie that accurately and tastefully recounts events in a way that does not disenfranchise my species.

:kaukau: "This will be...A planet of apes."

Title drop.  It's such a cliche thing to do, but it never ceases to be cool.

Also, I hope that this franchise eventually gets an Oscar for best special effects.  It's much deserved.

And I hope that this turns out to be an excellent war movie.  I've been watching a few war movies recently, and if it can incorporate all of the best elements from such films, it will go down as better than either of the two films that came before it.  Let's face it, this is the big finale that we've been waiting for.

Out of curiosity, do you think that they'll fast forward and legitimately make a movie that's literally just Planet of the Apes?

If the war of the planet of the apes ends with nukes, then I think we'll know for sure. You maniacs!

I definitely think it's a possibility. Especially if this movie is successful.

Rather than jump all the way ahead, we could go over the The Lawgiver Haristas (AKA Ape Moses/Confucius), whose writings, The Sacred Scrolls, will serve as the religious text for the apes of the future, many of those future apes misreading the Sacred Scrolls in order to promote the enslavement and extermination of humanity. Hear now The Lawgiver tell his tale...

"...But the child ape survived and grew up to set his fellow creatures free from the yoke of human slavery. Yet, in the aftermath of his victory, the surface of the world was ravaged by the vilest war in human history. The great cities of the world split asunder and were flattened. And out of one such city, our savior led a remnant of those who survived in search of greener pastures, where ape and human might forever live in friendship, according to divine will. His name was Caesar, and this is his story in those far off days. "
