You're totally right about the vehicles and Takanuva.

Takanuva is definitely the best one of the summer sets. The vehicles look cool, but I'm not sure they're worth the money. If they had used new figures, and not just cheap rip-offs of Lewa, Pohatu and Antroz, I would probably buy them. Vultraz bores me, and I'm sure Mazeka will too. I'm a bit disappointed that instead of three larger figures we only get Matoran on vehicles. As for the Mistika themselves, I like the Makuta, but the Toa aren't as good as they could have been. I don't really like Gali at all, but I'm sure she and the other Toa will grow on me, just as all of the others have.

But anyway, I long to get Tahu so I can revamp him (he's overall the most awesome of the Nuva IMO, and still looks like Kopaka), and Krika because he's awesome and that's the only other color of canister set I get, anyway. Onua is nice in construction (though I dislike the mask) and Gali is overall pretty lame IMO, but the remaining Makuta are awesome and I can't wait to draw Gorast (who doesn't look too masculine, at least not for a bug-thing...). Takanuva is indeed win, and the vehicles are to an extent... I feel Rockoh needs more dark green, and Axalara is (in the back at least) a stylistic nightmare with its abundance of blade motifs and textures. Jetrax is awesome, though I feel they may have overmodified Antroz as they managed to avoid doing with Pohatu and Lewa in their retoolings. His mask is hard to judge at this point, but the fact that he doesn't seem to share anything besides color scheme in terms of construction offs me. Vultraz I feel is a waste of a new mask, though his vehicle is spiffy.

I didn't post a big lengthy entry because, well, I'm still not entirely sure about my thoughts of the Mistika canister sets, so I wanted some fresh ideas that would help me come to a more sturdy conclusion about them.

 

Thanks for the thoughts everyone! I'm not too big on Gali either, the mask is to horrid for me, and she doesn't have any melee weapons. Gorast seems to have more black than green, and I can't see it as a Makuta of Air. I see it more as a Makuta of Earth, personally.

Funnily enough, Gali's mask is perhaps the part I like best.

 

Remember, Makuta don't have any elements besides shadow. Gorast is not a Makuta of Air, and moreover I am glad to see that the Makuta Mistika maintain the black of the Makuta Phantoka even if they don't maintain the dark colors and the Nuva Mistika don't maintain the bley or bright colors of the Nuva Phantoka.

Ah yes, you are correct, but I suppose it's like a stereotype to me. They have a blue Makuta, so I assume that it has a bit of water power too. That may not be correct by the storyline, but it's the way I see them. I guess Gali's mask itself is OK, but I don't really care for the wings/fins on it. What's with the replacement of dark green with lime green anyway?

but, for say, Gali, i'm probably going to buy her because of the Blue and silver pieces, but that mask is horrid

 

Onua: unless $13 falls from the sky, no way he doesn't really have anything new..

 

Tahu: i might get him, Silver Piraka joints are win, not to mention the red.. yeah, he'll probably be my first toa to get, i love that shied thing..

 

Makuta: i'm definitely getting Krika.. not sure about the rest.. i like the yellow one, i mean, we get acutual yellow legs for the first time i think..

 

but, in another aspect, i hate the vehicles, i mean, they're so expensive.. but i do want the Lewa one and the smallest one(forget the name) i already have Lewa and Pohatu, so i'm getting the lewa one cause i NEED one of those visors, and at least the mask is a little different..

 

anyway, Taka was cool, until i saw the gallery that Bonesiii found.. his mask looks so ugly there, compared to the pics that we got from B6.. so i'm not sure, but i do love him, so i'll probably end up getting him.. see all my thoughts on him in my blog
