Graduation went by very quickly. I got many compliments on my speech, though my sisters of course had to ruin it by saying I spoke too fast. Afterwards we went to Applebee's (I didn't eat anything because I went to Chili's before the ceremony) then to a friends house and walked around his neighborhood at 11:00 at night.

So far, I've made approximately $1,060 from friends and family. Should be plenty to get a nice laptop in addition to the $700 my parents will pay. I've got to start on some Thank You's

The thing that I'm most excited for is my internship. My step-father works for a company called General Dynamics which hires interns out of high school who are going into the IT/IS field in college. Normally there are numerous other companies that hire kids but this year there were only two - Unisys and GD. Out of about 16 people that were nominated, I was #2 on 'the list.' The first person was hired by Unisys and me, being the second, would have been hired by GD. However, since my step-dad works at GD and is the person that hires the intern, I was not chosen because of a nepotism clause in his contract with his company. I, of course, was dissappointed but I understood the situation.

I found this out early last week. Come Friday, while at Chili's, my brother-in-law tells me that he heard another company was going to hire an intern. After the Graduation ceremony, my step-dad tells me that a company called ICS is going to hire me. I couldn't have been happier. I got the letter in the mail on Saturday. I was chosen as the intern. Not only will I be making $350 a week for ten weeks, I also get a $1000 scholarship. Plus, the benefits of being in intern at ICS; they will know my name and I could very well get a job there sometime in the future. They could also hire me again in the following summer months, which will help pay for other college expenses (tuition is completely payed for since I got a Valedictorian scholarship.)

For the time being, it looks my future is well lit. I'm praying it stays that way.

Welcome to the club of "We left high school the right way."

The Concession stand is open 24 hours a day, 5 days a week (not on weekends, the guy's off) with a cover charge of showing your diploma (or a legit photo of you holding it) to get free stuff and enjoy life. Again, welcome to the club WaWa :D -Swert
