When I raised my foot up the wood it was in came with it, so I quickly had to step down on the wood with my other foot.

He's making a generalization about a group of people in a way that sounds like it is bad to be part of that group. He's stereotyping that group in a rude way. That's what's insulting. He's pretty much stating that emo people take pleasure in pain, which is not true.
