Lately I feel like LEGO has been letting me down somewhat...

Well, I was talking with Robo (despite his plans of BZP domination) and we got into the interesting subject of lego's.

elementoid@ymail.com (10:32:45 PM): you are so lucky

"Robo" (10:33:39 PM): i am?

elementoid@ymail.com (10:33:52 PM): you got to be the target age during some of LEGO's best years

"Robo" (10:34:02 PM): yeah

elementoid@ymail.com (10:34:04 PM): looking back on this site

"Robo" (10:34:06 PM): I was :P

elementoid@ymail.com (10:34:13 PM): the 1990s were some of the best years ever

elementoid@ymail.com (10:34:25 PM): now LEGO's just selling out

elementoid@ymail.com (10:34:35 PM): space theme was mostly given up for Star Wars

elementoid@ymail.com (10:34:54 PM): and Johnny Thunder has completely disappeared in leeway of Indiana Jones

elementoid@ymail.com (10:36:25 PM): you cannot imagine how envious I am

"Robo" (10:36:57 PM): oh i can

"Robo" (10:36:58 PM): i can

elementoid@ymail.com (10:37:04 PM): no, I mean it

elementoid@ymail.com (10:37:15 PM): I'd kill to have been born 5 years earlier

"Robo" (10:37:21 PM): lol

"Robo" (10:37:27 PM): i'd kill to have been born roughly around when you were

"Robo" (10:37:33 PM): so i could follow BIonicle betterer

elementoid@ymail.com (10:37:37 PM): hm

elementoid@ymail.com (10:37:39 PM): I suppose

"Robo" (10:38:19 PM): lol

"Robo" (10:38:19 PM): yeah

elementoid@ymail.com (10:38:23 PM): but really

"Robo" (10:38:24 PM): someone born...3 years after me

"Robo" (10:38:26 PM): haz it made

elementoid@ymail.com (10:38:34 PM): stuff like the islander sets

elementoid@ymail.com (10:38:47 PM): or the Jhonny Thunder in Egypt

elementoid@ymail.com (10:38:53 PM): or even pirates

elementoid@ymail.com (10:38:58 PM): they had lego NINJAS

elementoid@ymail.com (10:39:06 PM): *flails arms*

"Robo" (10:39:11 PM): lol

elementoid@ymail.com (10:39:13 PM): it's unfair ><

"Robo" (10:39:14 PM): i think i still have some of them

elementoid@ymail.com (10:39:42 PM): all of these great sets were just disappearing when I gained interest

elementoid@ymail.com (10:40:20 PM): I cannot describe how overjoyed I was when I actually got ahold of an Insectoids set

elementoid@ymail.com (10:40:48 PM): now all we have is stinking Mars Mission

elementoid@ymail.com (10:40:49 PM): LAME

elementoid@ymail.com (10:40:58 PM): it's too realistic to be interesting at all

"Robo" (10:41:00 PM): lol

elementoid@ymail.com (10:41:08 PM): Life on Mars was awesome

elementoid@ymail.com (10:41:13 PM): martians in giant robots

"Robo" (10:41:15 PM): is that the mining one?

elementoid@ymail.com (10:41:30 PM): giant robots that TRANSFORMED

elementoid@ymail.com (10:41:47 PM): and then Mars Mission you can't even move the martians

elementoid@ymail.com (10:41:57 PM): you can't even tell what they are

elementoid@ymail.com (10:42:31 PM): I honestly think it would be a good idea to re-release some of those older lines in a few years

elementoid@ymail.com (10:42:46 PM): once a new cycle of a target audience begins

elementoid@ymail.com (10:44:14 PM): tell me

elementoid@ymail.com (10:44:22 PM): which looks more appealing?

elementoid@ymail.com (10:44:32 PM): this?

elementoid@ymail.com (10:44:46 PM): or this?

"Robo" (10:45:41 PM): the arachnoid

elementoid@ymail.com (10:47:38 PM): *sigh*

elementoid@ymail.com (10:48:07 PM): I remember when I was five and got that set for christmas and spent several days building it with my parents

elementoid@ymail.com (10:48:19 PM): and I felt so proud because I was under the suggested age

"Robo" (10:48:47 PM): lol

elementoid@ymail.com (10:48:57 PM): shaddup

elementoid@ymail.com (10:49:06 PM): these are cherished childhood memories

elementoid@ymail.com (10:50:02 PM): on another note

elementoid@ymail.com (10:50:09 PM): you don't see many base sets anymore

elementoid@ymail.com (10:50:40 PM): remember how the biggest set used to act as some sort of base type thing?

elementoid@ymail.com (10:51:06 PM): that's really fallen out

"Robo" (10:51:41 PM): yeah i know

"Robo" (10:51:50 PM): i've really started to get let down by Lego

elementoid@ymail.com (10:51:59 PM): me too

elementoid@ymail.com (10:52:08 PM): don't take this the wrong way

elementoid@ymail.com (10:52:15 PM): but Bionicle kinda screwed it up

elementoid@ymail.com (10:52:30 PM): we had all sorts of diverse system sets

elementoid@ymail.com (10:52:44 PM): then bionicle comes and becomes one of the biggest parts of the franchise

elementoid@ymail.com (10:53:00 PM): and the system sets suffer

elementoid@ymail.com (10:53:56 PM): I mean I love Bionicle and all

elementoid@ymail.com (10:54:06 PM): but I think I liked it better when it was a bit simpler

elementoid@ymail.com (10:54:12 PM): and they were sold as technic sets

I'm serious when I say that I'm envious of everyone who got to actually enjoy some of the best system sets ever...

Anyone agree, disagree?

wow, Mine and Robo chats were never so in depth, or serious =P

And I remember those Ninja sets! The best man, the best. But I don't think Bionicle ruined anything, it aight Bionicle's faults the set designers started making less awesome sets IMO
