I once took a screen shot of the desktop then hid all the folders in "My Documents" so it looked like the folders could be clicked but they couldn't be.

No one noticed.

If you're using a PC, use the Print Screen button, then paste it into an editing program.

 

If you're using a Mac, I can't help you there, sorry.

I made a desktop once that froze all the icons on the desktop in place, so if you moved one, you duplicated it. No one noticed, except that I showed one person after a while.
