A Tonberry is a recurring enemy from the Final Fantasy series. Tonberries are quite small, usually no taller than three feet. It typically has green skin and a round head with a small snout and round yellow or black eyes; it walks on two legs and resembles, to some small degree, a bipedal lizard (though without a visible mouth). However, it always wears a hooded cloak, usually plain brown or grey in color, and its dolphin-like tail can be seen peeking out from beneath the hem. A Tonberry always carries two things: a lantern in one hand to light its way through the caves in which it dwells, and a long, sharp knife in the other. Their best known attack is Chef's Knife, which usually kills a character in one blow. The Tonberry must reach the character to use the attack however, and slowly walks towards them each turn until they get close enough. The Tonberry is ranked among the more formidable monsters in Final Fantasy.
