Book News

The news today is that it looks like there will be at least one more book in 2010. LEGO Company has asked me to write one for the first half of next year. I don't know the word count as yet.

As far as I know, it will be published in Europe by AMEET. It will not be published in the US by Scholastic, but we are looking for another publishing partner here. If we don't find one in time, the book will most likely be serialized on the BIONICLE website, so US readers will still get to read it.

More on this as it develops.

Wouldn't serializing the book hurt the sales in Europe? =\

I think it would. =| because the would be able to find it online. So why pay $7 when you could get it for free. I hope you find a new publisher. :)

So, in other words, free book? :-D

Here's hoping you don't find a publisher, then. :P

Seconded.

Acually I hope the book gets published in North America. I love reading new bionicle books, I read them none stop until I finished it.

Also this book will be Bionicles 29th chapter book :)

Agreed. Free is nice, but I think everyone should buy some of the Bionicle books to support it; it's not like everyone can't afford it anyway, buying those $15+ sets, I think some people could spare $5-$7 on these great books.

A free novel? Lego is so kind to us. And Ameet seems to be a very eager partner.

A novel at all? That alone is fantastic news. I'm reading Raid on Vulcanus right now and really like the "super chapter book" format. Novels set outside the Matoran universe feel different, in a good way.

Has anyone considered serializing "The Crossing" in Enlgish or publishing an English release of those guidebooks?

Guys, calm down. I'd prefer not to have a book serialized. No, really: if Ameet has low sales because of this, then we're not getting another one. (Same situation as now) (NOTE: of course that if I knew it wouldn't hurt, then I'd like it. I mean, I'm not allowed to import most of the books)

Hope this time things get better for books. While I haven't (and probabily won't be able to) read Raid on Vulcanus, I think that Legends 10 and 11 are worth the import from Amazon. Hope that you find a new partner and a way to popularize the books.

Indeed. It feels a little weird, but fresh seeing that the beasts are just called animals and that the villages actually have chefs and inns, lol. :P

I really wish we could have gotten more books this year. I would have loved to see more of how Bara Magna's culture is like. I mean, are the hot springs of Tesara or Iconox mines going to even get any appearances outside of a few mentions? I certainly hope we don't leave this world just yet. Not when there's so much more to talk about.

I rather it wasn't serialised. If it's serialised, it wouldn't be a book, just another serial.

Seconded.

But at least we get at least one more book! :D

Free novel is what I've wished for so many years. Now there's a chance it might come true. It would be great for those who can't get the books. I mean, come on: there are BIONICLE fans around the world, and the book is only going to be published in Europe. I say: free novel rules!

i'm thoroughly confused. Have any books come out this year at all yet, also can anyone explain this whole fiasco with scholastic?

For the topic, i would like it in paper form because i like new books and the smell, i also enjoy not looking at the computer screen for hours on end reading and having my eyes hurt for the rest of the day.

Yayz! Another BIONICLE book! :happydance:

Quick question: How would serializing the book online not hurt the sales in Europe?

:D :D :D :D

Even if it's serialized in the US, I'd buy it anyway, not only to support Bionicle, but also, because I like having Bionicle books on my shelves. I'd have to print the serials.

Raid on Vulcanus is out. Go get it. That goes for all of you, if you guys wish for more books to ever come out.

Ahem. 'Makuta's Guide To The Universe' is available in English.

Well, if LEGO doesn't find another publisher, Bionicle's end could come sooner because of decreased sales everywhere. =( I sure hope you guys find another good publisher...

He's talking about the mini-guidebooks "Glatorian I", "Glatorian II", "Glatorian III", and "Glatorian IV", a set of guidebooks so far (to my knowledge) only released in Poland. These books are the only place so far (again, to my knowledge) where "The Crossing" was published. He didn't mention Makuta's Guide to the Universe at all...
