Zomg Cat-beast, 9

I really want a pic of the cat beast from the first 10 minutes of the movie (not elsewhere), since it was so detailed and awesome, for my computer wallpaper...but no luck so far. (Yeah I was super excited when I saw that.)

Overall, the movie rocked. Action, characters, settings, plotness, awesome CGI and visual effects, and the different...things (various beasts).

But I also could not get enough, for 80 minutes really isn't that much, especially for the teenage/adult target audience. At least another 10 minutes could have been added so we could get a tad more action and character development, and dare I say then add another 10 for some intense monster/machine action and a deeper plot? (But don't get me wrong, the plot they had really grabbed me and got me thinking.)

I also really liked the tie-ins with the original short.

If you were all hyper about this movie, because you liked the short, you won't be disappointed. For people like Arpy who just don't see the big rush to see it, I think that if you were intrigued by the story and effects, you'll like it, but if dark, weird, and different aren't your style, maybe wait for DVD? I can't really say, so go ask someone who wasn't expecting much. But I've read some good reviews, and it certainly isn't the worst movie out there.

Danny Elfman's music was good too; I might have to get the soundtrack. I'll probably put this on my Christmas list, assuming it's out by then.

I do not understand either of those last two posts...

Arpy is posting that in everyone's blog, and Cags doubts that 9 rocked.

As do I. It looked kind of... over-hyped, if you know what I mean. That, and this movie review site that I pretty much always agree with gave it a bleh rating of 50 something percent.

Not saying you can't like it, just didn't look like my cup o tea.

I can understand where you're coming from. That's also a reason I don't really like giving (movie(/CD/set)) reviews, because I tend to be slightly biased and "whoa!" and I don't really like saying things were bad (until I watched Transformers 2).

Now you got me curious, so I checked a movie site I know of and this is what they say:

Although its story is perhaps too familiar and less complex than some might wish, 9 is visually spectacular, and director Shane Acker's attention to detail succeeds in drawing viewers into the film's universe.

Sounds about right.

Doubt? Pfaugh. I know.

Luckily I don't care about Cags' opinion.

:P

(Slight tads of tidbits are welcome in MOCing though...because I pay attention to your MOCs.)

But seriously, does anyone have something to say about the movie? Who's seen it? Who's liked/disliked it?

I saw it.

AND OMG LOOOOOOOOOOVED IT. :D

What was very, very cool about it to me was... well, everything. =P All the nods to the short film made me want to squeal with delight, the steampunk/apoc feel of the world was incredibly realized, the creatures were spectacularly designed and very original, the characters had a lot of personality (could've seen more development, though), the plot was basic and yet deep at the same time... Like I said, everything.

But, yeah, it should've been longer. The shortness was almost criminal. I was like, "C'mon! I wanna see more!"

Movie critics are non-cool dudes. If they like a movie, it's rated R and far too gory for me. If I'm interested, they say it's lame and for simple-minded folks who would chew on their own eardrums if they could. (Um... okay, that maybe be a hyperboli)

I haven't seen 9. I think it's been overhyped (mostly from you. :P ) but I wouldn't mind seeing it at some point... but I'm far too lazy to bother going to the theater. Maybe some other time. (As I've been saying for pretty much every cool movie that's opened this year)

Thanks Lepaka, but what I'm really looking for are some full body pictures of him probably towering over 2 and 9. Plus, those are small--not wallpaper sized.

Cool though.

7/10 roughly.

Needed more story, more character developement and a better ending, but the visual style was great and I liked that soundtrack.

Also, did anyone else feel like it was Terminator but with a wonderfully dark and quirky coat of paint? Man vs. Machine has ben done to death people!
