I think all humans have a bit of an artistic impulse in them. It's just that our culture says that you have to be "good" at it to pursue it any further than childhood and people convince themselves that they can't do it. I think that's a misconception. Creating things is good for you.

I am more of a compulsive maker of images than anything else.

All humans are artistic it's just different representations of such.

Some people are incredibly wordsmiths, painting pictures with words that others wish they had thought of. (I'd like to think I can do a semi-decent job of this)

Other people can draw or paint gorgeous imagery that captures feelings and emotions on canvas, computer screen, or even paper. ( I am useless here)

Still yet others can take a single photograph and make it seem so singularly poignant it's as if nothing else exists. (Semi-decent at this, depending)

And then there are those who carve and craft with plaster and clay and wood and metal, birthing 3D creations that amaze the world around them. (I do plastic models. I can pretend I'm in this category as well)

GunPla is artistic. You didn't create the forms, but you sure as heck did the colours.

LEGO is similar. The designers at the company created the parts, but it's still up to the builder to put them together to make something that didn't exist before. So I guess I am artistic on that front. I still sometimes catch myself belittling the hobby, though, as if my accustomed mode of creativity were somehow less worthy. Ultimately, it's more important to actually be creative than to be creative in some "approved" way. True creativity really is about following your own passion. Or compulsion, as the case may be, lol.
