Rpgc16- History According To Dume

I guess it's that time of year again. The next RPGC begins in about three weeks, so it's time for me to start putting my ideas up for examination and review by the general populous. This game is the sequel to Villainous. You'll find no minor update here. The entire game is being completely overhauled, while still managing to retain around the same length.

Some things I need your input on:

Would you like to keep the current faction creation system or go with a larger scale, more BZPRPG esque, version?

No matter what faction system you choose, would you like there to be a topic where all the created factions are archived? (Similar to a profiles topic, but for factions instead)

Would you mind if the game focused more on the uncharted, or less visited, areas of the universe?

What is your opinion on the storyline so far and how do you think it can be improved?

A) I think that if the member body was a bit larger and more people were interested in creating large-scale factions [so far, only the official factions are "large", the Vahki thing is large in NPC-amount, though short as far as members go.] Allowing factions to be that large, may be interesting and worth testing out, but personally, I think that things will probably stay on a small scale, due to the actual scale of the RPG.

B-) If there are more than four player-run factions, then another topic would be alright. However, if there's only one or two other player-factions, then I don't see why you wouldn't include them in the main post. It's basically, based on numbers, more-so than anything else.

C) I would find this interesting, so I say yes.

D) I'm not really following the story so much XP

A. Keep the current system. You already know my thoughts on the BZRPG system.

B. Faction topic is a yes.

C. Sure, I'm up for anywhere I have an excuse to build a church.

D. Make it less cryptic.

Only three weeks? Seriously? I better pull my finger out, my entry still needs work...

Current system is fine. I don't see why everything has to be like the BZPRPG, I've tried it and its not that great IMO

Why not just use the profiles topic? It's not like we're overwhelmed with factions

Nope.

Make it less confusing. Characters keep dying but not really, or turning out to not be who they say they are or two characters turn out to be the same person. Its getting too twisted to follow. I'm only just keeping up

Gotta agree with Power here. I'd explain my thoughts, but he kinda did that for me. :P

EDIT: Wait! Only THREE weeks! *dies*

Okay, to sum up what I understand from your thoughts-

Keep the current system, have a new topic if there are enough factions or just use the profiles topic, take the game to new places, and straighten out the storyline to make it less convoluted.

Allrighty then. I believe I can deliver on all fronts for that. The game will provide one last convoluted plot twist to get people on the same page and make sense of things and that's it from there. History According to Dume will be 80% less confusing.

Haha, this is actually my first blog comment. Ever. :P

1. I don't even think you need a format; just have people create an in-game faction that you/staffies keep up with, and when it gets the minimum amount of members, post it with a brief description and a roster, no real format or faction request.

2. It'd help a bit, but if it's extra trouble, don't do it.

3. I'd prefer it. It also allows for more of your own geography creation on those places, and it gives a fresh flavor to things.

4. I like what you're doing with things, but as much as you're trying, I'm not getting the epic, mysterious, mystifying feel that the game's built for-the kind of thing you get in a creepy, good book. It's hard to do, but you really want to absorb players and make them actually feel like they're in the game.

By the way, in case you're forgetting, RPGC16 is a themed contest, so build around that. :-/
