that I think of most buildings I see in terms of their defensibility against zombies?

I have atleast 5 different blueprints, plans and lists for stuff for the zombie apocalypse.

No, I'm serious.

If my scanner worked, I'd scan my electrified machete blueprints for you and post them here.

Also, I size up more trucks for zombie apocalypses. I've had my eye on this guy's garbage truck a few blocks down.

Always be prepared for emergencies. Also, study your own home in terms of defense. You will most likely be there or at school in an outbreak. What "weapons" do you have? Can you get to them easily? If you don't have combat knives or guns, etc. at your house (you sure as heck won't have them at school) think of what you can use as melee weapons. Sledghammer? Axe? Be creative. Think of every piece of zombie media you have seen. Media is usually how we see such an event unfold.

Think realistically. Cholie, who posted above, mentioned a tank. Are there any tanks in your city? Can you drive a tank? First one, maybe, second, probably not. Even if you know how to drive a car, a tank may not be as intuitive as you think!

I always plan according to Medieval-era siege warfare. I know that's not very likely, but heck, I studied it on my own for like....a couple of years or so.

People these days just don't know what a good gate is...

Well it's better than a house because you can't run zombie's over with a house.

Point taken. Do you or any of your friends know how to drive a tank, or any vehicle for that matter?

Very good! Know where the military installations are in your town, or nearby towns. For example, my town doesn't have any, but a nearby town has a few.

my town has an air force i think

I'm not sure if an air force would have light weaponry used by infantry. Possibly, if they have troop deployment planes.

Mabye it's the anxiety from reading about disasters and disaster movies, but even though I feel a zombie acpolpyse is impossible, after I read an online list of reasons of how it could be possible, blog entries like this kinda scare me. :fear:

But to be on topic, when I look at buildings, I sometimes think about how they could fall apart in a natural disaster/ life without people to mantain them.

He's talking about Rescue attempts

The chopper/Air force would be able to save his town A LOT faster than say, someone in Kansas, with nothing Militarily related around for miles

Just to tell you, I live in Kansas and there are military forts all around in the eastern portion of it. =P

Anyways, how do you guys know these zombies are all that bad? Have you ever met and conversed with one in real life? They can be pretty cool people if you just get to know them.

My town was originally (and still is) a military base. Even though we have a small population, we have an airport and at least one major military installation.

I always keep a mental list of weapons useful against zombies wherever I go. At home, for example, we have several large knives, an electric saw (similar to a chainsaw but smaller and -unfortunately- less lethal), and an axe. I also have a couple lengths of solid plastic and metal tubing, which are useful considering my aWeSoMe LiGhTsAbEr SkIlLs.

And my classmates and I spent an entire class drawing up escape plans and diagrams of our school in the case of a raptor/zombie attack, so I feel resonably well prepared. :)

Yoy, baseball bat and a fencing mask in my room, plus a large selection of knives in the kitchen, and several power tools in the basement.

I look at my house and defenses in terms of a break-in but I got mad blade skills, so I should be able to hold my own during a zombie attack...Or I could take them all out with 3 Mahritoran blades to the face. Either way, I've been designing car modifications that include 4 or 5 artillery shell cases on each side, some armor plating, ya know, the important stuffs.

See, the problem here is that most of you are counting on knives. D'you know how hard it is to stab a zombie and then pull the knife out? Trench spikes, machetes, hatchets, and crowbars are all better alternatives.
