News And Notes

Hey guys,

Just some more tidbits from the world of BIONICLE --

-- Comic #3 is finally done and releasing to the printer on Monday. It is a little behind schedule, but through no fault of Stuart's or DC's -- we had a hold-up getting them sets they needed for art reference, so it threw things behind. Overall, though, it may be the best issue we have ever done -- the writing is better, the art is gorgeous, lots of action. For those of you who have read Book 3, a lot will be familiar, but it is still neat seeing what Stuart does it.

-- Getting all set for Comic-Con. My wife is going to come out with me, though not sure how much she will be at the booth (she may just explore San Diego while I am working :) ) The con is always fun, but exhausting!

-- BIONICLE Atlas is humming along -- just about to explode a revelation about the Mana Ko you didn't see coming :) The book is going to feature maps and original art by LEGO illustrators Jeremy Brazeal, Toby Dutkiewicz, and John McCormack -- Toby is working on an illo of Karzahni (from BL #2) right now!

-- Next story meeting is tentatively set for August, hopefully in the US. With Leah back and some shifts around in personnel, it is going to take a little bit for the team to gel again. But I think we will slowly get things moving in the right direction again.

-- Everyone is anxiously waiting to see how the Toa Inika do in stores. The Piraka have been a step in the right direction; now we need the Inika to keep the momentum going into 2007. When you have been out for six years, stores can be very quick to decide the line is dead if you get a release that doesn't do well. So we need the Inika to outsell the Visorak.

-- And finally, a question -- outside of BZP, do you talk about BIONICLE or LEGO building with anyone else?

Comic 3 sounds interesting! I'll be sure to read it, somehow (not a subscriber, though :P).

As for the Atlas, I'm positively sure it'll outsell any books you've done so far! What with all the excellent (upcoming) illustrations and all. ;) Mana Ko...isn't that the enemy of the strong-as-heck Manas? :)

Definitely buying the Inika! They'll be available at the nearest toy store I could get to once I go back home for vacatioN! July 7th...can't wait!

And yes, I do talk about BIONICLE outside of BZP; with one of my close friends at school, and my brother. My friend and I argue A LOT about the storyline -- he pays SO much attention to details and clues! XD My brother's starting to get interested in the storyline more and more (he's interested more in the toys like me), but I've never actually see him reading the books myself. Ah, someday he will :D

Mobby Z going out.

Do I talk with others about Lego and Bionicle? Yup. Mainly all my friends and a good chunk of my family are interested in Lego and such, so I talk about it with them...

Man, I hope the Inika sell more than the Visorak... don't want to see anything bad happen to Bionicle in the future.

Sounds all good. All this inside information... I can only :happydance:

Very few of my friends know about me liking BIONICLE (mostly because I don't have all that many friends). In other words, no. Sadly. :(

I'd like to talk about Bionicle, and nearly everyone I know knows that I love Bionicle. But I'm the only one who does, most of my friends laugh at me because of that. There's someone I sometimes talk to about Bionicle, but he doesn't know Bionicle very well... :( (He has watched MoL and knows some things from Bionicle.com, but that's all. Most of his Bionicle knowledge he got from me.)

Aww...... lucky! Too bad I can't go! I live in Los Angeles and I'm not gonna drive all the way here to San Diego!

You're lucky. You live in CA. I live on the other

side of the country. :(

I have two friends who love Lego. One is more

into Knights Kingdom, while the other loves

Bionicle. We're both getting at least two Inika

and 1 Titan.

No, not really.

IMO the Inika are much cooler than the Piraka -- though this could be because I'm getting used to them now. I would be very surprised if they wouldn't top the Visorak.

The person I mostly talk about MOCing and Bionicle is my little bro. We buy Bionicle's for birthday presents for each other and MOC together. He's not into the storyline as I am though. Some of my friends know that I MOC with Bionicle pieces and they see it as a pretty odd (but cool, I guess) hobby.

Greg, did you mean Karzahni the location or Karzahni the being? (Either way, it's still excellent!)

I talk about Bionicle with my best friend, and we sometimes stage wars and mini-stories taking place in DC's own "Elseworlds" (lemme grab the official discription: "In Elseworlds, heroes are taken from their usual settings and put into strange times and places-some that have existed or might have existed and others that can't, couldn't or shouldn't exist. The result is stories that make characters who are as familiar as yesterday seem fresh as tomorrow." Elseworlds are uncanon, but often times the freedom given to writers makes it so amazing, sometimes even more entertaining a read than the canon material. On a side note, a Bionicle version of Elseworlds would be very interesting to read.) Some of my other friends are into it, and another thinks he knows about it but (much like the majority of fans and those at the Lego message boards) truly has no clue.

I talk to people about LEGO, including BIONICLE, outside of BZP a lot, the problem is, there arent any hard core fans, but I still talk about it :P

BZPower is an oasis in the middle of a desert of no Bionicle. Between the youth groups I'm in, Job's Daughters and Rainbow Girls, only one from the latter knows that Bionicle exists -and even then, she became too confused to remain a fan.

I used to talk Bionicle with my brother, BZP member Omnicient Voice, occationally; but after he finished his parody of "Web of Shadows," I only have BZP again.

I watched Comic-Con on tv! Were you one of the people that dressed up for the occasion? :D

Does bionicle have a booth/showing there? Yeah, comic-con looks cool, but it costs too much and too far.

My comment was a bit late, but oh well. B)
