Lacking in something in my current life to write about today -- except for the fact that the Bears are going to the Super Bowl :happydance: -- I present you my third Bionicle Legends mini-review, on City of the Lost.

Like any book that has a decent sense of order to it, this book starts the 2007 story from the beginning: the defeat of the Barraki 80,000 years ago. My only complaint is that this wonderful scene was a tad brief, but I suppose it was better to resolve backstory quickly and then spend an appropriate amount of time on the main plot. Despite the length of this scene, which was not all that serious anyway, the rest of the book was very well-paced and was a real joy to read. Mahri Nui and the fields of air were certainly a good setting to start out with, presenting a feeling of suspense even though I know full well that the Barraki are the villains. The Barraki, in fact, are not unveiled all at once but are appropriately introduced at different points of the story. I also enjoyed the chance to meet some Matoran that I had absolutely no knowledge of beforehand -- five new Matoran of Mahri Nui that haven't been produced as sets make an appearance, names and all. What I was also able to revel in as a Bionicle fan was another look into the mind of the Kanohi Ignika (courtesy of Dekar), explaining some more facts about its history, what the heck it was doing at the end of Inferno, and why it has apparently made a mistake in its plans. As Greg promised, we see more Brutaka. Yes, in this book, I also found out exactly what the "300-foot-long problem" was; much to my disappointment, it hadn't resolved itself by the end of the book. Now that I speak of the book's end, actually, it is left on an even more terrible cliffhanger than Bionicle Legends #5!

This is definitely a book worth getting if you are a Bionicle fan like myself. You'll have fun, I promise.
