Aetas Praesidium - Team 2 Of The Library Olympics Epic Section

Toa of Dancing

Doesn't matter to anyone other than us.

So yeah. For us. Aetas Praesidium.

Bioniclechronicler

Kehuri Toa of Plants

Toa of Dancing

Xander004

So, Surel is our subject, as far as I know. Let's move discussion here guys. First, a name. I suggest "Follow the Wolves." A bit cliche, but personally I think it's perfect.

It falls to Chronicler for the last lake, Kehuri the treasure and what happens with it, me for continuing that, and Xander to finish it. Unless I should finish it. What do you guys think?

Well, I'd rather extend the story for as long as possible, but I doubt we could do that without losing the whole story's plot, so I say we wrap it up just one or two chapters after they get the object.

Aww crud... I ended up having to write about the object at the end? HELP! If anyone has even the slightest idea, suggest it!

I actually had an idea...though I think I should pm it to you just in case anyone else reads this. I'd love to extend the story like you, but like everyone else, I still think it would kill the whole theme.

PS-I won't be back online until 4:00 pm Eastern standard time (school) and I'm very busy right now, so I'll pm you my idea then.

Alrighty then! Any suggestions are beyond welcome!

Also, I was thinking we might be able to have an epilogue chapter at the very end, like with Imperiosus or Kirbold looking back on the experience. I was planning on doing something like that at the end of my own epic.

Hmm... I write the end, and then Xander writes an Epilogue with Kirbold and Imperiosus. Seeing as I plan to have something happen with Surel. Anyways, how about you write about them getting the treasure and beginning to escape, I finish, and Xander does the Epilogue.

Well, I assumed that an Artifact of Doom (like these guardians make it out to be) like this would at the very least allow them to reach the surface ... Right? So "beginning" to escape would be hard unless that thing, like, grants only one wish...

Oh, I know! They're going to find this "treasure", along with an eighth guardian that gives it to them, but this first thing is actually a test of the eighth virtue (heart, humility, or something like that), which is determined by how they use the item. They obviously pass, and the guardian takes them to the very end, where they find the true artifact... that's your chapter.

How does that sound? Of course, I'll add more meat to it.

I was thinking that after passing the final test the real final test would be to escape, and you'd write up to the point of them starting to run up the path. Of course, a different path then the one they came down through.

Kehuri, if we use my idea, the treasure won't actually help them escape...I have some plot changes in mind...

What plan? I haven't gotten the PM yet... And I have to go to bed soon, and school starts Thursday!

Okay, here's my idea-the 'treasure' is actually their trust/friendship in eachother, and they're actually dead (killed by baterra). To 'escape', they have to somehow leave the underworld...

Well, I had another idea. What one thing have they learned through this adventure? Unity. Does that ring a bell?

What if what they find at the end is merely one of three pieces of something greater? Ending the story right here is optional, but I personally love the idea!

Let's see what ToD and Xander think, I can't decide which 'treasure' is better.

~BC~

Well, here's what Chronicler and I think, what about you other two?

I really don't like either of those. The first makes me think of LOST (no I didn't watch it, I was told the plot) and the second is quite anticlimactic. :/ Anyways, HH said we aren't even supposed to be doing all this panning. so it's up to you, but I say no. I was thinking of it being something along the lines of a thing that could be used to revive dead beings (recently dead). I'd throw in a little twist if we go with that.

I dunno, revive dead beings sounds a little anticlimactic, though. Unless there's no revival limit, in which case the high security does make sense...

But as for said twist... does that imply that I shouldn't have them use it in the chapter?

But I think the treasure needs to be something non-substance, I think any other treasure would kind of kill the whole theme of the story, which has so far been Surel and Kirbold working together. I assumed the story would kind of have a theme like that, instead of 'zomg we now have a bunch of gold ZOMGZOMG!!!!!1!!!!one!1!1!!1!!!!'. JUst my perspective.

So...Xander, Kehuri, what do you think?

Also-I've been fine with basically anything so far, but I really think that a substance treasure doesn't fit the story. That is why I like my or Kehuri's idea better. The way the story has progressed so far, it seems to me that this is more of a tale of unity/working together/friendship then one where they're just trying to win a prize that they never needed. I think that something 'practical' such as the power to resurrect the dead doesn't fit the story. Read through it, see what I mean.

I know this may sound a bit bossy, and I'm sorry if it does, but I've been trying to please everyone and get everyone to agree on something, but I really would rather not have the treasure be something like a power or item or such. If everyone else wants a substance treasure, then I'll stop arguing, but until then, I'm going to stand strong about my opinions.

Sorry for the rant... :sarcastic: I'm starting to think what Xander said about too much planning was right (>.<)...seriously, though, I really just don't like your idea, ToD.

It all depends on Kehuri and Xander. I really am against your ideas. If it ends up a tie, I'll grab someone as a third party. So:

Artifact of Reversal: 1

Nothing Material: 1

Also, how about the artifact, as stated above, can do something on a broader scale, such as reversing anything? Then, the story could end with this indestructible artifact being so massively dangerous that... Well, that'd give my secret plot point away.

But I despise "Happily-ever-after-big-moral-lesson-earned" endings. Yes, Morals are good, and this epic has shown many already, but something like the treasure being "friendship and teamwork" seems sickeningly sweet to me.

Link to comment

I usually don't write stories with moral endings either, but that's what I think flows with the story. It may not be my 100% favorite, but it would go best with the story in my opinion. Kehuri's idea works as well. Anyways, now we wait for them to vote...

EDIT: I also belive that the moral would make this story more sophisticated and stand out from the other epics...

I don't know, I was thinking maybe an orb that gave you the power of illusions or something.

I don't really like either ideas, so I put up mine for discussion.

Sorry I'm so indecisive. Ugh

Link to comment

THIS is why we should have had FIVE authors...here's hoping Kehuri can make a decision >.<

EDIT: You know, I think we should've just gone ahead and had me write up the last challenge and Kehuri write what he felt like...too much arguing and indecisive-ness...
