Yeah, pretty much same here. I'm considering trying it, I don't write a lot so I figure it might be a good exercise in writing things in general. I'll probably take a stab at something Bionicle related if I can, I just love what you can do with bio-mechanical characters who have elemental powers. But I don't wanna use any of the Bionicle related story ideas I have in my head right now as I want those to go towards a possible larger polished work I might actually want to show to someone someday. So if I can think of anything else...

NaNo's primary purpose is writing your 'first draft' on whatever your idea is. It's a good idea to get whatever you want out of your head, and then for December onwards you polish it up. (that's actually what I'm doing for Glitch, sorta. The bionicle version is the 'first draft' for the original novel)

I actually just got a good idea.

What's keeping you? Physical ailments? Someone towering over you with a mace to beat you up, once you reach 4,000? You got talent Kini, don't let procrastination take control of you.

Write twelve and a half short stories!

 

I'm most likely in, though not optimistic about my chances of winning. I really need to keep my grades up...

I'm definitely in this year, though I'm using this more as something to kick me back into writing fiction. After the kick, maybe I'll aim for the goal next year or so. I'm also on the website, if you want to stalk someone.

It is more like a personal challenge with a TON of other people. It is up to you to write 50,000 words of a story (novel) in a month, and only you. (Though hopefully you will have supportive friends, like us on BZP doing it.)

 

In short: Write a novel of at least 50,000 words in 30 days--November. That is 1,667 words a day, at least. The goal is for quantity over quality. Do not go back and rewrite, spell check, or anything else until you finish. Just write, making the story progress. There will be times where you do not know what will happen next, and times where you could keep writing for hours upon hours into the night. That is the point: write!

(And if you finish, you can say you've written a novel!)
