Gamzee Makara Posted November 2, 2010 Isn't that their first time since, what? the Fifties? Since 1954, I believe. I am very happy. Quote Link to comment
LewaLew Posted November 2, 2010 WORLD SERIES WIN. WANT. But with Jim Hendry as the Cubs' GM, it's not likely we're going to be able to get rid of the super huge contracts with mediocre players that he signed for Soriano and Zambrano and so forth. But yeah, congrats. My congratulatory BaseBlog entry will be up later. Quote Link to comment
Sumiki Posted November 2, 2010 I wish the World Series had better baseball. The Giants steamrolled the Rangers in part due to the Ranger's suckiness. Quote Link to comment

LewaLew Posted November 4, 2010 More like national champions, you know, since there surprisingly is a world beyond the U.S. The title has been "World Champions" from the very beginning because when it started up, the World's Series was the only baseball championship in the world, so whoever won was actually champions of the world. Now, the title is kept because while it may not be the only baseball championship in the world, it is the best, thanks to players from Japan, Korea, the Caribbean Islands, Mexico, and Canada, as well as the USA (Which, according to the International Baseball Federation, has the second-best players anyway, and that's mostly their Minor-league players, while Cuba, the #1 nation in baseball, always uses their MLB-level players). Major League Baseball is the top baseball organization in the world, although there are other nations that have leagues of their own, such as the Nippon Professional Baseball League in Japan. However, the MLB has the top talent from around the entire world, although all the teams are based in the USA, with the exception of the Toronto Blue Jays. Anyhow, the Giants are in fact, World Champions, because the MLB is made up of the best players in the world. Quote Link to comment
