I Am A Man Out Of My Time...

Seems like the things I enjoy, such as lego, video games, basketball, are things people I grew up with have grown out of. I always get an awkward look or comment when someone asks me, "So what hobbies do you like?". I think this is why I am mostly a loner, I have always been different than other people. I guess it is starting to take hold on me now, getting old but feeling young is quite a conundrum. I need to find a place that I fit in, outside of this internet!

Suggestions?

I'd reccommend finding people who have younger interests too. It's certainly worked for me - this year I've found friends that openly sing songs from Barney the Dinosaur, and hanging out with them has really boosted my confidence. :D

Also, I've only just realised (from reading Karaku's blog) that it was you, thanks man! :D :D :D

Join a LUG? (Though I'm sure I don't need to tell you and you've probably already looked.)

What is strange though is that I have noticed a timeline with acceptance of the LEGO hobby:

Middle school: teased

High school: teased at first then folks realized that was immature and my hobby is pretty neat

College: Great acceptance

So it's weird how you seem to be rejected by adults. One would hope they realize everyone has their differences. I am sure they have hobbies just as unique, like astronomy or aquariums or something to keep their minds active in their free time, and if not, then why are they living if they do not have fun and learn?

Maybe that's what you should do next time someone looks at you funny. Ask what their hobbies are and then compare how unique both hobbies really are.

Also, being a loner and introverted is just fine.
