Bring Back Bionicle Post 2

Hey guys,

We currently have 12 members who have joined BBCC! :D And I realized something.

Unless you're popular here, you will be bashed for any ideas you have. Look here. They are trying to get people to link to images instead of posting them. But Aho's not being bashed. We want Bionicle back, and are being bashed by other "fans." 'Tis a dark day on BZP. We must stick together, and not loose hope. “Many of the great achievements of the world were accomplished by tired and discouraged men who kept on working.”

I have yet to see someone make a logical argument for embedding large images. At best, they're annoying - at worst, they can make your computer nearly explode.

If you feel as if someone is flaming you for your ideas then please report it to the staff. Flaming is against BZP rules regardless of the members in question.

Well, in Aho's case he's enforcing rules which is completely different from what it seems your doing. Your trying to bring something back that ended. Everyone wants bionicle to come back. But we know it might be a long time before that could possibly happen.

I don't see anyone bashing either, I see simple disagreement.

Um, that's not some idea that some new guy had, that's an actual problem that does need to be stopped. Cuz, y'know, huge screen-stretching images can kinda sorta cause problems with peoples' browsers and such. I can't tell you how many times Firefox has been frozen by huuuge images in MOC topics.

A little bit overdramatic there, bro.

Seriously man, it's been shown countless times that these sorts of groups and such aren't going to have much effect. Yeah, it's a noble effort I guess, but in the long run.. LEGO's really not gonna change their mind just because a dozen or so fans on one website start a group. And as it's been said an equally countless amount of times, perhaps even by GregF (I seem to remember him saying it anyway), the best thing that can potentially get LEGO to go back to BIONICLE is by not boycotting Hero Factory and instead demonstrating that their buildable figure lines are still in demand.

I'm going to be perfectly, 100% honest with you on how I feel about this, whether you like it or not - It's seeming more and more like you "Hero Factory sucks and we want BIONICLE!" people are just complaining for the sake of complaining.

Greg may have said that, but he also said "Keep in mind that if Star Trek fans had, as a group, said, "No point in talking about this anymore, it's never going to come back," it never WOULD have come back."

I know that has been tossed around countless times, but it's very true.

Dear gods, that quote has been beaten to death and you guys are reading waaay too much into it.

I don't think "So you guys should start a bunch of clubs and write petitions and try to convince LEGO to bring BIONICLE back by bad-mouthing Hero Factory" is exactly what he had in mind.

My point is.. It's been a year since BIONICLE ended. These clubs and groups have been done over and over - been there, done that, got the T-shirt. And they're just not working. Being a faithful fan of BIONICLE and continuing to talk about it and have interest in it doesn't mean "start clubs and demand we get BIONICLE back", it means just go about the average stuff you do in BIONICLE communities. Discuss the past sets, the continuing story, do creative things based on BIONICLE, (peacefully) show that there's still interest.. that's what that quote means.

He may have said that; but do you think he had meant that in a way like 'oh, sure, go dislike Hero Factory just because it's the sequel series'; or, do you think he meant to just keep discussing it? I think the latter, because the former just hurts the effort in the long run, as LM said.

We mostly discuss Bionicle still; but do you think it was whining and saying 'we want star trek baaaaaaw' that brought the new movie out; or... do you think it was people simply discussing the series and the old episodes and movies and such? It's the same with Bionicle; even more so since there are new story parts every so often.

/EDIT: I just got ninja'd by LM. =P

What exactly are we reading into it? Whenever someone says clubs to bring BIONICLE back don't work, we quote it, because it sums things up nicely.

And what do you think he had in mind? We need to show we still like BIONICLE somehow....

Um, this seems like a much more effective way of showing there's still interest than discussing past sets.

Just talk about BIONICLE and keep the interest alive. That's all Greg meant - he never said to start a bunch of clubs and "campaign" for BIONICLE's return.

The chances of it working are next to zero, bro.

Oh, yeah, so effective! It fails every frickin' time. Seriously.

If you guys want to move forward with all this silly club stuff, by all means, go on - just don't blame LEGO or the members who "bash" you when it fails.

Greg has addressed the people who started the petitions - which this hardly differs from - saying pretty much that it doesn't work and the best way to "save" BIONICLE is to keep the interest and discussion alive.

And let's be realistic for a moment - if you guys, by some miracle, happen to succeed in what you're doing, how far in the future do you think it will be before BIONICLE does return? Even if you guys could get LEGO to say "Oh, let's bring back BIONICLE!" tomorrow, new sets would still be a year or so away. How many of you will actually still even be interested in BIONICLE by then? Even if you believe you'll never lose interest, trust me, you will - take this from someone who's been there, done that.

And as a final thought, I personally believe that BIONICLE should stay as it is: Ended. It had a great run, yeah, but all good things must come to an end and I think 2010 was a good time for BIONICLE's.

I haven't sent one email or anything to Lego, so don't say I'm demanding. There's nothing wrong with starting a club for people who want Bionicle back.

From your original Bring Back BIONICLE Club entry:

After we get enough members (I'll ask Makuta_Of_Oz) I'll email Lego once again and tell them how many members we have.

So maybe you haven't yet, but you're planning to.

Also.. it says "email Lego once again", which seems to indicate that you have emailed them already.

I understand that. Just as long as we know Bionicle will be coming back, and when. Then we'd have something to look forward to.

I believe the original e-mail might be my petition, but I'm not sure.

Somehow this doesn't count as "keeping the interest alive"?

Okay, let's take Apple's iPad as an example. Before the iPad, there were literally dozens of similar devices, from 2000 to present. They all failed miserably. Ever heard of the OQO or the Crunchpad? Now, Apple pretty much started a new market for tablet computers. Based on the past, the chances of it working weren't very high. Still, they tried and succeeded. BTW, I'm an Apple hater, and I'm still fairly impressed.

I think we are discussing it here, aren't we?

Not everyone does things purely for themselves you know. I at least have a little brother who would love to see BIONICLE come back and would still be interested a year or two from now. We wouldn't just be bringing it back for ourselves. We would be bringing it back for the whole world.

And as a final thought, I personally believe that BIONICLE should stay as it is: Ended. It had a great run, yeah, but all good things must come to an end and I think 2010 was a good time for BIONICLE's.

What are you doing in a "Bring Back BIONICLE" club post, anyway?

Who said that?

This shows how loyal you are to Bionicle. And I am sick of this. Anybody who isn't a member of BBBC and comments on one of the BBBC entries will have their post deleted. It's for us to discuss Bionicle, not to hear about how this club won't work.

Alright boys, let's get down to business. We gotta get the news out. Pull some publicity stunts. We need a banner or something for signatures.

Matoro Inika: Toa of Ice said he was working on another banner. He does have one but it was to big to go on my sig, so I asked him to make a smaller one.
