Announcing...

The Chocolate Froggy Bloggy Building Contest #3: Bold Colors!

That's right folks! I have just recently (read: today) obtained a fantastic set of prizes and am not hesitating to announce the contest in which to get these out of my hair. Another building contest is underway and I hope each and every one of you enters. This is especially timely because I know some of you are home from college and near your collections, able to build.

The theme: Mix-and-match clashing colors.

I have a theory that any color combination is possible, it just takes the right pieces and the right amount of each color to create the perfect blend.

So it is your job to build a MOC with two (or more if you dare) clashing colors that normally would not be seen together (I'll leave the discrepancy up to you, just no strictly black and white MOCs), and make it look good. (Examples: Red and teal. Tan and purple. White and yellow.)

Deadline: 11:59 pm, Tuesday, January 4th, 2011, or soon after. (That means if I am awake when the clock strikes Wednesday, I close the blog entry. If I'm not near a computer until Wednesday morning, you still have time to submit a MOC.)

Voting will take place soon after, and hopefully everything will be done by the time I return to school the next week, able to send off prizes.

Oh, yes, prizes! First, second, and third place winners get a Series 3 minifig! Don't ask what they are, I'm not telling. They were relatively a chance on me getting them, so it will be up to chance until the winners are announced (at which point the 1st prize winner gets to choose which he wants, and so on), in the spirit of the figs.

General BZP contest rules apply. Or else. (Make it obviously Technic/Bionicle in inspiration, but there can be more deviance into the realm of System than most contests allow.)

Also: Keep it moderately sized. No monsters, but no 3-piece entries either. Between a Toa and a $20 Bionicle set.

Questions answered in the second posted reply to this blog entry.

I want at least 5 entries, otherwise the contest is off. I got 10 last time, and I hope we can have more than that this time. Tell your friends! Link in your blog! I'll make a banner soon...

Post questions and entries (with your name, the MOC name, and link to the primary picture) here.

Ok my MOCs done but I have to ask some questins before entering it tomorrow.

1. So even if the MOC is specifically made to ride another MOC (a horse), that counts as 2 seperate MOC? Which means it is not allowed if I am right :/

2. Regarding the above if true, my two MOCs can actually be combined (in a simple way) to form a centaur, so would that form be allowed to enter?

3. This is for the entry pic, could it have the rider and horse be part of the same image as the Centaur? Seeing as we are allowed to do this in BBCs I believe.

Thanks CF ^.^

Well, if I understand it correctly, things like Lhikan and his Kikanalo, or Vezon and Fenrack, MOCs like those, are "one MOC" if they're attached to one another. Which is why I'm fine with it.

Things like a master and a pet are obviously two different MOCs, side by side.

Yeah my rider is actually on the horse, as its part of the whole design and idea. So that means I can enter them together from what you said :). Thanks that makes me happy as the two together was the main idea lol.

Anyways just one last question (thankfully) for the entry pic am I allowed to have both forms (the riding form and the centaur form) in one image (basically connecting the images side by side).

I'm going to say no. That would be like having two entry pictures.

Also, in past BBC Contests, most notably the TransforMOC themed ones, if one had to remove pieces and such to then allow additional parts to be moved around/added on, it was not allowed. If, however, your MOC/change does not require that, I apologize, but I don't want two pictures as one entry pic.

So far mine is about as tall as an Av-Toran is this okay? If it isn't it should be fairly easy to fix I just need to know ahead of time.

Awesome. I'm actually almost done with something that would work very well. Four main colors, with some other various secondaries!

how would yellow and orange work? I was gonna do green and orange, but ran out of pieces. I'm gonna try and enter! Sounds super fun, away from one-colorness, black, and silver.

Don't worry. Yellow and orange don't much contrast, especially if you use the Keetongu yellow, but it sounds cool. I only saw one MOC with this scheme, it's probably rarely used, so that's up to you. :)

I wasn't sure if red and white are bold enough colours, so there is a bit of Mata blue in there as well. :)
