Posted by Hurricane iBrow , in Life, Video Games, L4D2 Night May 01 2013 · 0 views

Yes... as of today, I am back. B-)

And that means, of course, that I am now once more up for Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, and Minecraft (BZPC AT LAST!!). Those of you who I have played/tried to play L4D2 with, I'm hoping to get a session going this Friday.

Regarding PYRO

Posted by Hurricane iBrow , in Games & Trivia, Video Games Apr 11 2013 · 82 views

So, I think most of us here are familiar with Pyro - y'know, that lovable muffled chum from Team Fortress 2 that sets everything ablaze (except every single magical wooden structure within the game).

Last year, on December 31st 2011 (which for our purposes, was so late that we'll consider it January 1st 2012) I started Mafia III: The Cult. I replaced the typical "mafia" group with a "cult" group. However, this also led to my changing up several other typical roles.

The Detective became a saviour for those the Cult kidnapped; the Doctor could save them before they were kidnapped, and could not be converted, and I even changed the official title to "Medic"(a term that has for the most part remained); and then of course the Cult turned people into new Cultists, increasing their size instead of killing off the other side.

However, I also made one other change: in Mafia there is a role known as the "Arsonist". This player is sort of like a serial killer, in that once every two rounds they kill someone, except that it is fire related, and of course they are only allied to themselves. Sometimes, there is a particular role that protects only from the Arsonist.

I changed the Arsonist to the "Pyro" - a role that was still allied only to itself. However, the Medic could not protect people from the Pyro (in a second installment, I created the "Engineer" role, which could protect from the Pyro). The Pyro would select two targets each night they were active, select a weapon to use on each one (either a flamethrower or an axe, like in TF2), and then the player to die was selected via a dice roll.

Fast forward to today, where my latest game, Bionicle Mafia III: By the Numbers - With a Vengeance has just ended. The Pyro has remained as a role within almost every single Mafia game, sometimes in a more traditional "pick one player, they die" role, and sometimes closer to its original incarnation. In this most recent game, the Medic could save Pyro targets, and the target to die was chosen by an online version of rock-paper-scissors; similar, but a little different. The next game appears to have the Pyro playing some sort of major role - he even shows up in the title! I don't know how Zakaro will use the role, but I think it's kinda cool that a role I actually invented has lasted so long.

So, here's to the Pyro remaining a role in many Mafia games to come.

My Eyeballs Burn

Posted by Hurricane iBrow , in BZPower, Life, Movies, My Little Pony, Video Games Feb 10 2013 · 63 views

Now that you have been drawn in by that excellent title, let us move onto the matter at hand, which, while it did involve the use of my eyes, would be rather hard pressed to make them burn.

I'd just like to mention that for my occupation as an "eyebrow" (not gonna lie; it feels weird to type it correctly), I have a lot to say sometimes.
But then I remember that right now I have my display name on a character that refused to stop singing and talking when he'd been shot in the chest, so you know, it all works out.

What does this entry mean? Well to be honest, I don't know. An eyebrow just talks sometimes because it wishes to be heard. (Actually it's more because the eyebrow wishes to speak and does not care if he is heard or not).

What I need right now is some Team Fortress 2.

I'll get it in about... hmm... six, seven, maybe eight or nine months! Yeeaah. B-)
It's cooool, folks.

Also I heard that a certain Twilight Sparkle was becoming a winged unicorn and that people were upset. I think that's cool too folks. B-)

I'm outta here! There be other power business in the bionicle zone to attend to!

IBROOOOOW... AWAAAAAAAAY!

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD

Posted by Hurricane iBrow , in Video Games Jan 23 2013 · 87 views

Ooh boy, I am very excited for this! I never had the opportunity to play it on the Gamecube, but the game looks rather spiffy in HD. I'll definitely give it a go. Here's hoping that with this remake they're also fixing all those issues people had way back when!

Pokemon X: Reasons Y

Posted by Hurricane iBrow , in Video Games Jan 10 2013 · 80 views

Last February, I wrote a blog entry. THIS IS A LINK TO THAT BLOG ENTRY.

Now. Some of my reasons were rather incorrect, obviously, but how does this relate to X and Y?
Because X and Y are being released this year, the year everybody thought "hey ruby/sapphire remakes". And you would not believe how many people I've seen since the X and Y announcements moaning about no ruby/sapphire stuff.

However, there's a reason I never believed in the Ruby/Sapphire remakes; and that is Emerald. Emerald is the third in a trilogy, much like Yellow and Crystal before it, and Platinum after it.
But it is very different from those games.

Ruby and Sapphire were the most diverse pair of Pokemon games ever, and Emerald combined both of those stories into one, and did a mighty fine job of it. As a result, Emerald is the most complete game of the three. Think about it...

What did Yellow add? Pikachu walks behind the player.
What did Crystal add? A Suicune sidestory easily inserted into HG/SS.
What did Platinum add? A "distortion world" - in the future, this could be easily inserted into a pair of Diamond/Pearl remakes, or it maybe it will be a Platinum remake. Who knows?
Black 2 and White 2... well, they changed things up more than Emerald as they are actual sequels. Also they are a pair, so point becomes null. Black 2 and White 2 aren't really comparable.

With Yellow and Crystal there was no reason to remake them; the most important aspects of them were easily inserted into the remakes. But Emerald, not so much.

So this has been the second in the "Emerald Remake" series. With X and Y released this year, with us getting a pair of new Pokemon games every year since 2010 (and we got Platinum 2009), I'd say it's safe to expect "Z/X+Y sequels" within the next two years, and the Emerald remake after that.

I don't remember where I was going with this, but I feel stupoid now.
