XboxONE + Halo TV series!

Aside from being just about the worst name ever, I was pretty excited for the console reveal.

Until people started attacking it and insisting Sony's better in the three other places I was talking about it during the reveal. Even though I never tried to bring up any of that console war idiocy. Then of course they get mad at me for trying to defend things or tell them to take it elsewhere or whatever... but yeah, oh well.

Don't care about the EA sports games (at all) or Forza 5. Quantum Break sounded pretty cool, and getting 8 new franchises next year has me excited. And I hate to admit it, but the CoD: Ghosts talk actually had me somewhat interested, with the new engine touted and emphasis on campaign.

And the hardware sounds pretty decent. It sounded like they mentioned built-in video recording, which I'm very much looking forward to.

Oh, they did spend way too much time talking about using your gaming console to watch television, though... Too many features, not enough focus.

I'm definitely looking forward to E3 for bigger game reveals. ~~But also for them to hopefully address the always-online rumor, which was not even alluded to here.~~ (Current reports are saying after the conference, Microsoft confirmed the rumor false.) And of course the new no-used game rumor started today alongside the reveal... It doesn't affect me any since I only buy new games, but of course I understand why many would be concerned. Especially since the rumor says it ties games to an account, not even a single system.

And how did I forget this?! (Thanks Valenti :3) THERE'S GOING TO BE A LIVE ACTION HALO TV SERIES BY STEVEN SPIELBERG. EEEEEHHHHHHHHHH!

Finally sat down and watched the first episode of Firefly last night with some friends.

I have to say... I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The only thing that seemed odd to me was that both in pacing and aesthetics it seemed very much more film-like than an episode of a TV show. That's not to its detriment at all, but was just a curios observation.

Don't know when I'll find time for the rest, but I have no doubt I'd like to watch it.

So LEGO's apparently in talks with Fox to work out a deal to make sets for... The Simpsons.

That's, uh, cool I guess. I mean, they're already yellow, so they'll make sense in classic minifig colors.

But The Simpsons is for a bit more of a mature audience, so I'm slightly confused why they'd go this route. But oh well. They'd probably sell.

First of all, that power outage after half time was absolutely hilarious. Can't believe something like that happened and lasted so long.

And once it was restored, boy did the game pick up. Because let's face it, that first half was boring.

Then the end... that was a bit of a nail biter there. Or would have been if I were a Ravens fan lol. But it certainly did get close.

Congrats Baltimore. I'm looking forward to Pittsburgh getting back on top of things to knock you guys back down next season.

Sword Art Online

Anyone here watch it?

A friend of mine has been trying to get me to branch out in my anime viewing. We were working on a project and taking a break and he convinced me to watch the first episode.

That was five days ago.

I've watched 16 episodes since.

And of course I just learned Max Factory is coming out with a Figma of the main character... Looks like I'll get to enjoy a new action figure out of this show too. Yay me haha.

But really, I am enjoying it. The concept of the anime - being stuck in a virtual MMO - is interesting to me on its own. But the execution of it I found pretty different, in a good way, as well. It's very episodic in that most of the episodes (at least in the first half) aren't directly connected, but there's still an obvious progression of time and things changing. Part of me wishes they did break it down and tell more of the story to make it last longer, though.

It's also an ongoing series. Rare for me to get into one like that. Granted, there's only a few episodes left, but there'll be some suspense at least since I can't marathon them all yet.

This is one seriously fun show and I don't know why I hadn't watched it sooner.

I mean, I've been meaning to, but I just procrastinated so much from it.

But I just got halfway through it (it's only one season, 25 episodes) and I'm simply loving it.

And of course I want a bunch of the S.H.Figuarts for them now... Sigh...

Really though, you all should watch it.

Korra: The Revelation

I managed to catch the second airing of The Legend of Korra's third episode this afternoon, and ohhhh boy am I getting even more excited for this series than ever!

I love and hate Amon. I don't like how they appear to have just copied Zuko's story with the burnt face. But at the same time, his ability to remove bending is completely unexpected. I thought at first he'd just managed to find a Lion Turtle and learn from it, but I truly don't think it's that simple. I can't wait to learn just how he got this ability.

Some more backstory on Mako and Bolin is always nice.

Pabu will never be as awesome as Momo, but at least they're trying.

Legend Of Korra

So yeah.  I watched the first two episodes the other day.  Wanted to share my thoughts.

The first episode was okay.  I felt it was moving too quickly and there wasn't enough exposition - then I got to the end of the episode and realized the entire point of it was for exposition.  The second really picked things up, and like many others I love the pro-bending.

As for characters... Well, the old first:  Katara being in it was nice, but Sokka being dead was a bit of a disappointment.   The mention of Zuko's mother was such a blatant shoutout to fans, but I liked it for that.  Too bad it didn't go any further than a mention.   I really wish that it had been mentioned what became of Zuko's lineage, since all of the others were explored rather quickly.  Well, except Sokka's potential children, I guess.  I can only hope they'll get to that eventually.

New characters... Tenzin's interesting.  I feel like they definitely made it clear he inherited his father's goofiness, but it doesn't seem to fit his character that well.  His son is incredibly annoying.  The daughters are okay.  But ugh his son.

Korra is a very interesting Avatar.  So much different from Aang, and that's a good thing.  I can't believe they're throwing out shipping so soon with Mako, though.  It simply could not have been more obvious.

Bleach: Not The Chemical

So, as some of you may know, I enjoy reading/watching mange/anime, though only a few at that. One such manga/anime is Bleach.

Let's get this out of the way, first: they didn't show a new dub episode last night for whatever reason, and that's what made me think of doing this blog entry. Sometimes I think I'd be better off watching subs instead of hoping the dub will keep a regular schedule...

Anyways. For those of you who don't know what Bleach is, here is the Wikipedia article.

In a nutshell, though, Bleach is about a bunch of guys with giant swords that destroy evil souls. And, really, that's all the needs be said about why I like it: giant swords.

I haven't been keeping up much on the anime in terms of literal new episodes, mostly because I don't care much for filler (though, the Bount arc doesn't seem that bad). Instead, I primarily just read the manga. Lol, the latest chapter was great with the parallels of the Shinigami represented in the Arrancar. It should certainly be interesting seeing what happens there. Though, I'd like to see more of Barrigan himself battle.

Sooooo, anyone else like Bleach?
