Read it again. Things have changed.
I was once just a regular member. I've been in your shoes once before. I've seen posts that are ridiculous, useless and offensive. I have been powerless to stop them and yearned to do more. I am staff today, and sometimes I still feel this way. Knowing what I know now, this is the contribution I want to be known for, if nothing else.
May it help you become a better person on both BZPower.com and in real life.
BZPower is a great place to hang out and talk about matters related to Bionicle, Lego, or the ties that connect us. But it is so easy to make it a better place by doing one simple thing. There are instances where a Report does far more than any post could ever do. In fact, more often than not, posting will just make the topic worse. Here are some instances.
Any time you type these phrases:
I don't think this is allowed...
I think this belongs in...
Please don't flame, [member]...
That's spam, [member]...
The folder isn't public...
Reporting...
This topic was revived...
This should be closed...
...can someone please close this?
I guess a Moderator can close this now...

...anywhere in your post, DON'T post. If you do, you aren't helping the situation. You're making it worse by drawing attention to the topic/post, and any available Staff that can handle the situation are still unaware of the problem. Even a simple spam post does not warrant discussion about its merit. So what can you do to help?
Report the post.
Recently, it has become common that certain members post either incredibly offensive material or multiple topics which spam up the boards. There is no point in telling the member to stop or they'll get banned. They don't care. They know the consequences of their actions. Telling them otherwise gives them more material to burn. So what can you do to help?
- Report the post
- Go to the main Forum Page
- Look at the Members online
- Look for Teal, Green or Blue names
- PM them (or IM them if you know their addresses), and notify them of the situation.
Also, it is still common for normal members to say "NOBODY POST HERE!" in such threads. DO NOT do this. It does not alter the situation in any way because you aren't staff. Other members will tend to glance past your post, and it only humours the spammer. By the above techniques, you will solve the situation much quicker.
Remember,

Still feel helpless? Sometimes it takes even less than reporting and staff reprimanding. If you still want to actively help, send the person a PM notifying them of problems in their post and offer suggestions on how to solve it. Links to official or guidelines topics, a simple reminder of a rule or just a heads up (in a PM) will also have more effect than posting in the topic because then the person of interest will see it immediately.
Thank you, and Tohu be praised.
