...Went outside to chop down some trees for firewood. It was cold. He chopped this one tree down. He's an ex-marine. It somehow bounced off another tree and hit him diagonally across the torso, and threw him. The tree was an 18 inch oak. He landed in the only patch of flat grass around. He broke seven ribs, ruptured a kidney, and collapsed a lung. He got up and walked 60 yards or so to his house. He walked up to his wife and opened his shirt. She called 911. They took him to the ICU. A doctor walked in and said that they'd heard a tree got the better of him.
He said, "No, I killed it."
