Mayan Calender

Ok i think everyone knows about the whole Mayan calender thing and how the world is suppose to end December 21st 2012. Well i noticed something that made me wonder
Is the Mayan calender including leap years? Because if not that would make the end of world date closer than December 21st 2012 since Feb 29 adds a day each year which takes away more and more day withe the Mayan calender.
So what does everyone else think?

Mayan calendar doesn't take leap years into account. World should have ended 7 months ago or something. It's been a meme for a while, lol. :P

I think it was disproven, given the fast that the Mayan calendar goes off solar cycles and not our current calendar system.

It's Aztec. It resets at the end. It never actually predicted the end of the world.

Not worried at all.

The reason the Mayan calendar stops is because the Mayans just got lazy and said, "Well, we're definitely not gonna still be alive then, so let's just let someone else do it if they really care that much." :P

Ok guys, here's the deal. The Mayans didn't get lazy, they didn't predict the end. The 21st of December is when we hit the thirteenth b'ak'tun. What's a b'ak'tun? The highest Mayan period of time, somewhere around 394 years I believe.

Saying the Mayans got lazy or that they predicted the end is like saying Caesar got lazy when our calender has a little thing known as a millennium; it's simply another method of dating. Not laziness, not end of the worldness, just... another date.

It's like saying the world was going end in 1700, or 1800, or 1900, or 2000... oh wait, for each of those there is recorded incidents of people crying that the end was here.

It's just people getting scared of big numbers and Hollywood taking advantage of it.

^ You've gotta admit, though, these things do give awesome story opportunities, for fantasy reality stuff. =P It's just, no-one's actually mixed fantasy with reality for these end of the world things; it's just massive phenomenons. =/

well i'm just waiting for december 21st to come around. because your gonna have people who do disaster type thing where they steal tvs from stores complete chaos and then when the world does not end they are going to feel very stupid. and i'll be sitting in a lawn chair with mt.dew and a big bag of skittles watching the chaos happen and with a video camera so i can record the chaos and replay it when the world does not end so people can see how stupid they were.
