Some Pokemon Related Assistance?

Posted by Nara , Dec 03 2012 · 193 views

No, not that kind of assistance.

Everyone's familiar with Rise of the Rockets, right?

No? It's one of the most, if not the most, successful Pokemon RPGs we've had, but that's not saying a lot.

A few months ago, I proposed to Parugi an idea. I was going to turn this RPG into a game. A Pokemon game. Originally, there were going to be two. RotR: Liberty, and RotR: Rocket. However, due to the amount of sheer content in the RPG itself, I decided to split the games into four.

Two games focusing of Liberty's side, before and after the Manaphy Arc. Two games focusing on Rocket's side.

So there I began. I started hacking a Fire Red game as my base. Unfortunately, things kept crashing and not working as intended, and I was waiting on a patch to give access to all 649 Pokemon. However, even now, the patch isn't ready, so production kinda stopped.

But I want to start up again. I have the story map, national dex (edited, will not include all Pokemon), and key trainers all ready done. Now, all I need to do is work my way around the FR Base and edit it to my needing.

I will need to hack the thing a lot. But that's where you come in.

If you know how to sprite, can take music from Sinnoh/Hoenn and play it with a Kanto soundfont, or have any experience hacking a Pokemon game, I'd like to ask for your help.

Not only will the games help summarize and recap the RPG for new and old players alike, I think that it has the potential to be a great game.

Happy Fritters Day!

A fritter is any kind of food coated in batter and deep fried. Although very similar to a doughnut it differs in the fact that it requires some base ingredient beyond the dough it is cooked with. There are couple different variations of fritters. There are different variations of fritters. In British fish and chip shops, the fish and chips can be accompanied by fritters, which means a food item (such as a slice of potato, a pineapple ring or an apple ring fried in patter. Clam cakes and crab cakes are another variant of a fritter.

Science Olympiad. We had a meeting to work on stuff for four hours, and boy did it pay off. Out first competition is next week and I'm more nervous than losing a shiny Cobalion. One of my events is only half done and we have.. seven and a half hours to finish it.

This isn't some measly task, it involves testing. Lots and lots of testing and preparations. Actually, we only have six hours to finish, because one day is a Pep Band day.

D:<

If any of you guys have had experience with SciO, I'd love to hear about it.

Happy Eat a Red Apple Day!

Posted by Nara , in Happy ____ Day! Dec 01 2012 · 45 views

The proverb An apple a day keeps the doctor away., addressing the health effects of the apple, dates from the 19th century Wales. Research suggests that apples may reduce the risk of colon cancer, prostate cancer and lung cancer. Compared to many other fruits and vegetables, apples contain relatively low amounts of vitamin C, but are a rich source of other antioxidant compounds. The fiber content, while less than in most other fruits, helps regulate bowel movements and may thus reduce the risk of colon cancer. They may also help with heart disease, weight loss, and controlling cholesterol, as they do not have any cholesterol, have fiber, which reduces cholesterol by preventing reabsorption, and (like most fruits and vegetables) are bulky for their caloric content.

School.

School has been really tearing me down lately. Plus, all the teachers have decided to have tests and quizzes on the same day. Not that I study, though. It's the homework and the classwork that is really really just... Adding so much dead weight into my head. I think all the teachers need another break.

Anyway, in news of my next two years of High School, I showed my planned schedule to my counselor and asked if it was a good idea for me to fill with AP classes. She said it was fine, but I'm still worried, since I'm taking two of the hardest AP classes offered at the same time, plus marching band, pep band, and Science Olympiad.

Here's hoping I don't work myself to death!

I'll also start posting the Happy Whatever Day stuff earlier in the morning, so it's not two blog entries one after another, like it is now.

Happy Square Dance Day!

Posted by Nara , in Happy ____ Day! Nov 29 2012 · 24 views

Square dance is a folk dance with four couples arranged in a square, with one couple on each side, beginning with Couple 1 facing away from the music and going counter-clockwise until getting to Couple 4. Couples 1 and 3 are known as the head couples, while Couples 2 and 4 are the side couples. Each dance begins and ends each sequence with sets-in-order in the square formation. The dance was first described in 17th century England but was also quite common in France and throughout Europe and bears a marked similarity to Scottish Country Dancing. It has become associated with the United States of America due to its historic development in that country. Nineteen US states have designated it as their official state dance.

edit: whoa what's with that quote box?

Happy Make Your Own Head Day and Planet Day!

Posted by Nara , in Happy ____ Day! Nov 28 2012 · 45 views

Make Your Own Head Day is a crafty day often celebrated by artists and grade children.  The idea is to create your own head through many different artistic options.  Based on the name, Make Your Own Head Day, the staff at National Whatever Day believe this means the only restriction is you must make your head.

Red Planet Day is celebrated on November 28th of each year to commemorate the first launch of Mariner 4, the first spacecraft to obtain and transmit close range images of Mars.  After its launch on November 28, 1964 and a journey of hundreds of millions of kilometers, Mariner 4 passed within 9844 kilometers of Mars on July 14, 1965.

Beginning at a range of 16,900 km, the probe acquired a surface image composed of 200 lines, consisting of 200 pixels each every 48 seconds until, at a range of 11,900 km, 22 television pictures of the Martian surface had been stored on the spacecraft’s 4-track tape recorder.  It took 4 days to transmit the image information to Earth and the spacecraft returned useful data until October 1965, when the distance from Earth and its antenna orientation temporarily halted the signal acquisition.  Data acquisition resumed in late 1967 and continued until December 20, 1967.

Things

Posted by Nara , in Music, School, IRL, Writing Nov 27 2012 · 36 views

Because I can't think of a better title. Plus I think this entry will cover a range of things.

Firstly, if you haven't already heard it, Si Tu Vois Ma Mère is a great song. It's a jazz song mostly featuring a sax duet. I personally love it because I play alto sax (though I think it's a soprano in the song), so it might not be everyone's cup of tea.

Secondly, first day of Pep Band was today. There were more saxes than I anticipated and one of them had a blue and gold saxophone. Not to say that that is the best sounding model, but it's blue and gold. How can you not love it?

So lightning has a prefix now, Vo, huh? I like it a lot, actually. It'll be useful for my [hopefully] upcoming epic. Now we just need prefixes for the other elements that don't have them. =P

I'm also getting a plethora of college letters since I've taken a practice ACT. Asking around, it turns out that my friends have either stopped getting them a while ago or never got one. I'm not sure how to feel about this. They're clogging my desk drawer.

I also planned out the rest of highschool when I had some free time and it looks like I'll be filled to the brim with AP classes senior year. Next year, I think I plan on taking.. 2 AP classes, Chem and US History. But senior year, all my classes bar band/lunch/PE and an empty one I am filling with a study hall, all my classes are AP classes. I understand why schools want a mandatory PE class, but I could really use another study hall or fill it with another class.

High school is too short.
