Shika Trilogy
My epic, Tapestry of Evil, has 1001 views (at last tongue.gif )! Yay!

True, perhaps that isn't as good or as fun or exciting as having 1001 posts, but that at least shows that people are reading and (hopefully) enjoying it.

On the flipside, Honor versus Greed has zero replies and only 30 views. Wah. Oh well. Short stories generally don't get a lot of replies or views anyway, so I'm not that upset, though I wouldn't mind it if someone decided to review HvG (pretty please?).

Also, it's only about three days away from NaNoWriMo, too. I'm getting very excited, as I have a great idea for a novel and wish to write it as soon as possible.

Tuesday T O E Update, And I Think My Mind Just Got Bleached

Posted by TNTOS , Oct 27 2009 · 11 views
Shika Trilogy
Hey, guys! Chpater 19: Into the Core of the Mountain was posted today for you reading pleasure smile.gif .

In this chapter, the Toa Shika, Wanderer, and the (still bound) Nastan are traveling in a secret tunnel that leads directly into the core of a mountain in order to escape the Shodios, whilst Teivel and his group of Kra-Matoran have found the tunnel, too, and are currenly traveling it not too far behind the Toa Shika themselves. The Toa Shika then discover that the mountain they are in isn't any ordinary mountain, but an inactive volcano! However, soon they realize that Teivel is following them and attempt to escape by crossing a rickety stone bridge that spans the pit of burning lava, and, as the last of the Toa Shika makes it over, Teivel and his gang appears and the Toa of Shadow decides to go Nova in order to stop the Toa!

Will they escape alive? You'll have to read the chapter itself to find out.

As for the other part of the title of this blog entry, ever hear of an anime called Lucky Star? Well, I have, though I haven't actually watched the anime itself and I doubt I ever will.

Anyway, the point is, I saw an edited version of the opening for Lucky Star last night . . . which replaced all of the normal characters with the Decepticons from Transformers. Yes, you heard me right. Anyone who has seen the normal, unedited Lucky Star opening (which I did, after watching the TF one) knows just how wrong that is XD.

So we got Starscream, Megatron, Soundwave, Shockwave, and several other Decepticons dancing (exactly the same way the original LS characters do) to some extremely hyper-sounding Japansese song that totally doesn't fit them. And yes, I think my mind may have exploded from watching that, though to be frank I never really used it much anyway tongue.gif .

And I was just beginning to respect Megs too, after watching Revenge of the Fallen last week (good movie BTW).

Also, four more chapters (plus the epilogue) until the ending of ToE! It's getting closer every week . . .

What Does Sony Really Mean?

Posted by TNTOS , Oct 25 2009 · 16 views
Randomness
To most people, the name "Sony" brings to mind an electronics company that develops video game systems, televisions, cameras, etc. Nothing more, nothing less. Just a simple electronics company that wants to make a (mostly) honest profit to pay their workers and employees.

HOWEVER, to the well-informed mind, the name "Sony" is also an anagram for Super Octopuses of New York.

What does this startling revelation mean? No idea. But it obviously means something suspicious and dangerous and I urge all conspiracy theorists reading this blog entry to research my conclusions to figure out what it means before it is too late to stop the super octopuses' diabolical plan of DOOM!

How To Get A Lot Of Replies For Your Short Stories

Posted by TNTOS , Oct 24 2009 · 10 views
Writing
Write a short story, make it seem interesting and slightly confusing, and then end it with a twist ending that makes little sense (bonus points if its in first person!). Then people will start posting just to ask what it all means or what really happened. Did it with my own short story, "Paranoia," (link in one of my content blocks) and it got the most replies of any of my short stories ever because of it.

I've only ever tried this with short stories, as I doubt it would work as effectively in epics or comedies, though it possibly could if you are a good enough writer, I don't know.

True, it may seem a little unorthodox or whatever the word you may use to describe it and I don't recommend doing it for every story you write unless that is your style. But it works if you want replies and don't care what they say. Whether you wish to do it is up to you, however.

F-zero G X

Posted by TNTOS , Oct 22 2009 · 9 views
and 1 more...
F-Zero GX is both my favorite game and my least favorite game at the same time.

On one hand, the courses are incredibly cool and beautiful-looking, sometimes even awe-inspiring. I like how you can make your own ship (which I have taken advantage of). Some of the story mode missions, while insanely hard, can be a little fun. It also has some really cool music in some levels (particularly in Chapter 4).

Also, space flying FTW!

But on the other hand, sometimes it's too hard. Anyone who's played an F-Zero game will know what I am talking about. While I can usually take on Master Class computer players and even come in first place depending on the course, story mode is another level of difficulty entirely (I'm looking at you, Chapter 7!). More often than not, they expect you to go at ridiculous speeds to win, which usually results in you crashing several times and having to restart again and again and again and again and again until you get sick of it and decide to throw the controller at the screen. Also, some of the cutscenes are a little narmy (i.e., they tried to be serious but came across as silly/ridiculous), especially the voices.

F-Zero is still pretty awesome, though, but I stil have a long, long, long way to go before I have fully completed it.

Tuesday T O E Update

Posted by TNTOS , Oct 20 2009 · 14 views
Shika Trilogy
Chapter 18: Spirit Wanderer has been posted today. Read on for a brief summary of events:

In this chapter, the Toa Shika are finally reunited once again and need an escape route, as the Shodios are still searching the Nui Mountains for them. Fortunately, a mysterious ghost who calls herself Spirit Wanderer appears and shows them a secret tunnel passge she discovered hidden by a sheet of ice, which Addis quickly melts. The Toa Shika allow her to come with them and soon the party heads into the passageway, never realizing that, not too far behind them, Toa Teivel, leader of the Shodios, is coming ever closer with a band of rugged, tough Kra-Matoran that are all too willing to kill the Toa Shika . . .

Author's note: The character "Spirit Wanderer" was originally male, secretive, and much more like a plot device than a real character. This new Wanderer is female and has a much more sarcastic personality than the original Wanderer, thus making her easier for me to write. But she will ultimately play the same role that she did before, but in a much better way than the first time around.

Also, there are only five chapters of Tapestry of Evil left (not counting the epilogue), so I shall be counting down to the grande finale in the coming weeks until the epilogue. I think the ending will be good, but I can't say just yet, as no one else besides myself has read it yet, heh tongue.gif .

Fanfic Updates

Posted by TNTOS , Oct 19 2009 · 9 views
General Fanfic
I meant to post this last night, but the server was being stupid and wasn't letting me get on. But today everything is working as usual, so whatever.

Anyway, time to give my readers a few updates on some yet-to-be-published fanfics:

Glatorian Chronicles #5: Honor versus Greed is done. All I need to do is some editing and giving one character better motives for doing what she did and then I'll post it, though when I don't know. Let me tell you all that this short story will focus on Strakk and what happened to him after Mata Nui defeated him in Vulcanus in TLR. I really enjoyed writing it and will probably (hopefully!) enjoy editing it, too, as it isn't too long.

An Unlikely Alliance has been put on hold for now. I have a severe case of writers' block whenever I try to edit it, so I'm taking a break from editing for now while I work on some other things. Will get back to it eventually, perhaps in December, but for now I'm going to let it sit and collect dust for a while until I feel like picking it up again.

That's all of the updates regarding future fics. Also, keep an eye out for the tomorrow's chapter of ToE. It will feature a character who, pre-Dataclysm, was once merely a plot device, but in this new rewritten version of ToE, plays pretty the same role but is far more fleshed out and entertaining. I hope you all like it smile.gif .

Texas Weather Is Weird

Posted by TNTOS , Oct 16 2009 · 12 views
Real Life
One day, it's extremely hot and super dry in the low 100s. And then the next, without warning, is completely perfect weather in the low 60s to mid 70s, with perhaps an occasional rain shower to help wetten things up a bit. And then after that we get super cold weather that makes you wish it was the in the 100s again, despite however much you may have been cursing the hot weather in the last few months.

That's the best way I can describe Texas weather. Snow? What's snow? We don't get that down here, no sir. Well, occasionally, but it's more like a light covering than real snow that quickly melts away and leaves the grass and ground all wet and muddy and stuff.

But I would never trade this weather for anything else in the world, bizarrely enough. So I'm weird, too. Texans in general are weird, in fact, so I suppose that's why we get weird weather that can't decide if it wants to rain or not for several weeks and then out of the blue decides it would rather be illegally hot for the next couple of months tongue.gif .

The Hat's Crew - A Thomas The Tank Engine Fanfic

Posted by TNTOS , Oct 15 2009 · 28 views
General Fanfic
Now this is just a crazy idea my brothers and I thought up last night, which is the time of day when we're usually quite hyper and generally think up crazy awesome things, so you may or may not wish to take this seriously.

So anyway, summary of The Hat's Crew:

The Hat, leader of the mafia gang of the island of Sodor, has assembled a crack team of the best tank engines and diseasls he could find. Their mission: To bring the legendary "Space Orbs" to him, objects of great power that would grant him the ability to become king of the railways of the entire universe and, as an added bonus, ruler of the world, though he's not much interested in an unimportant little thing like that.

This team - known as the "Hat's Crew" - have to brave the many dangers and oddities of Sodor in their quest to retrieve the the Space Orbs, unaware that as they do so, The Hat's very own son is also attempting to get the Space Orbs for his own personal desires. Unlike his father, he has his priorities straight and realizes that ruling the world is so much cooler than becoming king of the railways of the universe.

Who will succeed in this epic quest - the Hat's Crew or The Hat's son? Nobody knows for sure and only time will tell if they discover the true secret behind the Space Orbs and what The Hat really wants with them . . .

So . . . yeah. I've even got character bios and everything, though I'm not sure if I will actually write this. I may, but probably not anytime soon, since I've got a lot of other fics I'm working on at the moment and don't need any more, however awesome they may sound.

Three Years

Posted by TNTOS , Oct 13 2009 · 6 views
General
It was today, the 13th of October 2006, that I joined BZPower, after browsing its forums for a few years prior. Now I have a Great Huna spinny mask thing to show how long I have been here tongue.gif . Yay and stuff!

Also (this was totally coincidental and I didn't plan it. Honest tongue.gif ) the seventeenth chapter of my epic, Tapestry of Evil, has been posted today, which is titled The Hunt Begins.

In this chapter, Addis, Chimoy, and Nastan attempt to find the other three Toa, Barilo, Akuna, and Nonzra, whom they had been separated from in the last chapter, while the rest of the Shodios and their groups of Kra-Matoran have finally arrived in the Nui Mountains, fully intending to find and kill the Toa Shika for good this time.

And in other news, I've just read Grievous Malevolence's post in the OGD regarding the 2010 story. Since this is spoilers, I shall put my reaction in spoiler tags:

I was thinking of changing my username to "Awesome Ackar" or something like that. What do you think? I like my current username right now, but it may be nice to change it, at least for a little while. Perhaps I'll do it at the beginning of next year or something.

Will do some thinking about it.

Deciding What To Post

Posted by TNTOS , Oct 10 2009 · 4 views
BZPower
Occasionally, I've read a topic and decided, "I'm going to post a funny, witty comment in here!" Or I think, "I'll post in here because I have something to add!" Sometimes I do have something funny or witty or important to add, but most of the time, when I click the "Reply" button and begin typing a post, I realize about halfway through that what I'm saying isn't very funny or witty, nor do I need to even say it, as tons of people before me have already said the same or similar thing and repeating what they said would just be a huge waste of bandwidth.

This is a good thing, because I sometimes want to reply out of anger at someone who I perceive as being wrong about the subject, instead of thinking my opinion through, which results in me starting an unnecessary argument with said person that usually doesn't last very long, but generally leaves me embarrssed and humilated (at leas I feel that way, anyway). I don't do that much anymore, since I usually think through what I say now and realize, "Wait, that will just cause an unnecessary argument that could easily be avoided if I worded my reply like this," or "I really don't think this post will contribute to the discussion," or something to that effect. Most of time I may word things wrongly because I do not understand what the other person is trying to communicate. Is he just bashing the BIONICLE storyline for no apparent reason or does he think perhaps the characters aren't as interesting as they used to be? Because when I have misinterpretted what other people have said in the past, it has lead to me getting angry at them for the wrong reason (or no reason at all) and for them getting angry at me for no reason, too.

So I generally try to be more thoughtful and polite before I post nowadays. If I decide what I say is important and relevent to the topic at hand, I will post my views. If, however, I think that I could add nothing more to the discussion, I will not post. Maybe I will later, if I check the topic again and see if there is anything that I could add, but for now I won't. I even apply this same principle to PMs, profile comments, blog comments, and blog entries (which explains why I have so few entries compared to the blogs many other people tongue.gif ).

See, I avoid looking for outright confilct with others most of the time because I feel that I can't represent or word my own views well enough for nobody to misunderstand me. Therefore, if I find a debate going on in a complaint topic and I see a post that I could answer, I refrain from doing so for fear of accidentally saying the wrong thing and making the situation worse (which I have been known to do in the past). True, this may not always be the best method of dealing with other people and I admit it may seem a little bit cowardly at times, but sometimes there is no reason to answer a complaint if the complainer is acting foolish. It's unwise to pick a fight with a fool, I think, because if you're not careful, the fool could really affect your mind set in a bad way. Not all complainers are "fools," of course, but I've learned to differentiate between real, honest complaints and unrealistic, harsh complaints that lead to nowhere (at least I hope I have).

It's not wrong to answer complainers if you feel like you have to, of course, but I personally don't feel like I am very good at it, so I try to ignore any harsh, unrealistic complaints (and, in some cases, unrealistic complainers, though I will not name anyone specifically) to avoid getting the temptation to reply harshly back. Not all complaints or complainers are unrealistic, of course, but in general I do avoid the unrealistic ones, though I have no real qualms with reading a realistic, thoughtful complaint so long as the tone isn't harsh or condescending or insults the reader's intelligence or anything like that.

However, if someone harshly critizes my fanfics, I will try to answer their critisms. Why? I dunno. I guess it has to do with me having put a lot of time and effort into what I write, so I feel like it is a "part" of me. Other writers reading this will understand exactly what I am talking about (hopefully, anyway tongue.gif ). I try to never take harsh reviews personally, since most of the time they're critizing my fics, not me, although since I don't get a lot of harsh reviews I don't usually have to worry about it.

In the past, I've also sometimes, regrettably, taken things way too seriously when people were just joking around. This has embarrassed me on more than one occasion when I couldn't tell a joke from a real critism and accidentally replied too seriously and melodramatically. I've since learned to study the words, phrases, sentences, etc of a person's post before I reply to make sure that I don't misunderstand or misinterpret them (if I even reply at all, that is). This has saved me from embarrassing myself on more than one past occasion. Heck, I've even started applying this to real life, although in real life it is much harder to not reply to someone than it is on the Internet, so it doesn't always work the way I want it to.

So in closing:

-Posting out of pure emotion instead of thinking through what I want to say is what gets me in trouble most of the time
-I post only when and if I have anything to add. If I don't, I don't post
-I do not go out looking for complainers, nor do I seek conflict with other people
-I try to resist the temptation to emotionally lash out against people I disagree with as it will do nothing but get the person angry at me, no matter what good intentions I may have
-I don't answer complaints because I don't think I could represent my own views well (this applies to more than just BIONICLE, BTW)
-Taking things too seriously or personally when I'm not supposed to almost always gets embarrasses me or gets me into trouble

I know that few will likely care about this, but I felt that it was worth posting here anyway. Maybe I will somehow help a person with the same problem as me this way. Unlikely, but you never knoow . . .

The Legend Reborn Review

BIONICLE
Today I've decided to write a review of BIONICLE: The Legend Reborn here in this blog. It's something I've been meaning to do for a while, but through an unfortunate combination of my laziness along with me being busy, I have yet to have the chance to do it until just now.

(Note: This review will be in spoiler tags, as it will likely contain spoilers for TLR. Read at your own risk).

'nother Tuesday T O E Update

Posted by TNTOS , Oct 06 2009 · 13 views
Shika Trilogy
Chapter 16: Confrontation was posted today about an hour ago or so.

In this chapter, the Toa Shika are reunited with their friend, Nastan, although he's far more different - and more evil - than when they had last seen him. But their reunion is shortened when they are forced to separate by a vicious attack from Toa Jiki, one of the Shodios. Meanwhile, the rest of the Shodios, along with a large band of Kra-Matoran, are heading to the Nui Mountains to capture and kill the Toa Shika once and for all.

So go and read it tongue.gif .

Fanfic Projects

Posted by TNTOS , Oct 03 2009 · 10 views
General Fanfic
Currently, I have three yet-to-be-written BIONICLE fanfic ideas/projects that I hope to get written after I finish editing AUA. These are:

Glatorian Chronicles #5: Honor or Greed: Fifth Glatorian Chronicles story, this one starring Strakk. I'm not exactly sure what the plot will be, although I could simply write a scene from Raid on Vulcanus from Strakk's POV or something, sort of like how Epics Contest #8 was, although I am open to ideas for a plot from others and will of course credit whoever gave the plot.

Glatorian Chronicles #6: Escaping the Silent Death: This would star Branar the Skrall when he first discovers the baterra. Probably won't be too hard to write, although I'm fairly certain that the story of the Skralls' first encounter with the baterra will be featured in Legends of Bara Magna, the eighth BIONICLE Graphic Novel, which will probably differ from my story of the events. However, seeing as it is fanfic and Greg has already said that we're pretty much allowed to write whatever I want, I may still go with the plot anyway.

Dimension Hoppers: This is one I'm definitely looking forward to for the following reasons:

1) It will be an epic, possibly from first person POV, since it will focus on one main character alone

2) The main character won't be a Toa, Matoan, Turaga, or anything like that. He will be of a new made-up species called the Tagiki, which will play an important role in the epic itself

3) Several alternate universes will be visited in it (as the title suggests), one of which will be the Paranoia universe, probably dealing with what happened after King Brutaka died

4) The plot and premise of the epic will hopefully be very original and entertaining

5) It will tie in with the Shika Trilogy. It's starts around the ending of The Tales of Shika Nui and ends around the ending of An Unlikely Alliance. Of course, there will be more tie-ins with the Shika Trilogy than simply being in the same universe, but I'm keeping those secret for now, as they are plot points for AUA, or at least a few are, anyway

I'm also thinking of continuing the Glatorian Chronicles after I write the Strakk and Branar one, focusing on the Glatorian Legends (like one focusing on Ackar or Kiina, for example). It's an idea I like, but I'm not sure if I will actually do it or not.

A U A Update

Posted by TNTOS , Oct 01 2009 · 14 views
Shika Trilogy
Just thought I'd tell you all that the third and final epic of the Shika Trilogy, An Unlikely Alliance, will probably not be up until early 2010. This is because editing is going slowly and painfully for me at the moment and I will go through it at least one more time, since I like everything neat and perfect and stuff tongue.gif .

It is seriously is worrying me, though. I'm starting to think that the editing phase is going slowly for me because the story itself may be boring . . . and this is the first major fight scene that I am working on here, people. I didn't have this kind of trouble with ToE, though of course it may just be me, since I have had an annoying cold these last few days, which may be affecting how I look at it, because some days I look at AUA and say, "This is great!" while other days I say "Did I really write that?" and edit- no, outright rewrite the scene in question immediately. 'Tis the life of a writer, I suppose. Never satisfied with what I've wrote 'cause I'm always convinced that I could do better (which I probably could).

Yeah, I know ToE hasn't been completely posted, so this may be a bit too early to discuss AUA yet, but I thought I'd give an update just the same.

Edit: Oh, and by the way, I'll start releasing actual story information about AUA when I'm on the last two or three chapters of ToE. So keep an eye on this blog until the end of November, where you'll always find updates for my fanfics smile.gif .

Tapestry of Evil has been updated today, with chapter 15: Lost in the Mountains.

In this chapter, the five-remaining Toa Shika end up accidentally crashing their steed in the cold Nui Mountains of Wyoko, while being relentlessly being hunted by one of the Shodios, even as an old friend tries to find them at the same time.

So what are you waiting for? I beseech you all to go and read it tongue.gif !

Just got DSL Internet connection a few hours ago. It's much more faster than dial-up ever was, which will take some getting used to, as I am still slightly surprised when a page or video loads up in ten seconds rather than ten minutes lol.

But I'll most definitely enjoy it. Faster is better where the Internet is concerned IMO.
