Being a UK resident, not really sure what this SOPA thing is, but I've seen wikipedia is down for the day, and other sites. Will it effect BZP?

SOPA is the Stop Online Piracy Act. It's been debated in the US Senate and House of Representatives. The intended purpose is to give the government the power to block sites that carry pirated content, especially those that operate outside the US. However, some large corporations such as Google and Wikipedia have come out against the bill, citing that it gives the government power to block sites which link to a site with any sort of pirated content.

The whole kerfuffle is stalled with SOPA, considering Obama has said that he doesn't support it and will not sign it into law as it stands.

Discussion of SOPA - especially in blog entries - are often locked due to political discussion.

Those are just protests against a US bill, they'll be back tomorrow

And no, the staff have said BZP won't go anywhere

Yeah, it shouldn't affect us at all.

However, this is a political issue, and political discussion isn't allowed, so!
