Mishaps and Bubble Wrap

I was running on campus just a few days ago in the pouring rain when some kid jumped out of a bus stop and yelled "WAIIIIIT!"

Normally, I would have just run by, but he had a determined look on his face. I slowed down and he continued, "How would YOU like... a free donut??"

His friend pops out of nowhere holding a box of dunkin donuts like it was a briefcase loaded with cash. I told him sure and he gave his friend the nod. He opens the box and tells me take one, any one. Even though I was nearing the end of a 7 mile run I sprung for a chocolate glazed, vanilla frosted, maple syrup donut with sprinkles. So I run the last mile back to my dorm in the pouring rain with my mp3 player in my left hand and this vile creation of a donut in my right. Must have been quite the site!

I wish things like this happened to me during runs.

Oh man Darren Criss, at first you were just a StarKid, but you're a star for reals now, man! Good job!

I guess snape can sort of wear colours

Sisen: Oh whoops. See I was thinking more of the squirrel that went to hide under the house or something from the kid, so instead of animal under the house it is snape.... Yeah your idea is waaay better and lolworthy xD
Nukaya: oh, his fan girls will go crazy over this

Sisen: Maybe that's why everyone was really afraid of him, and why Neville saw him in his Grandma's clothes and bird hat...

How Snape wearing lots of colours equals Snape being a drag queen, I don't really know, but the idea of Snape as one is amusing to me, especially with the incident with the boggart in the third book. He really did make that stuffed vulture hat look good...

THEIR NAMES ARE POPCORN, SWEET CORN, SUPER SWEET CORN, FLOUR CORN, CORN FLAKE, AND BI-COLOUR CORN. THEY DON'T LIKE TO EAT CORN THOUGH. THAT IS A SHAME. I LIKE CORN. MY HUSBAND ALSO LIKES CORN. HIS NAME IS HANS OOTABULL. WE WERE MARRIED IN A CORN FIELD. EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T TAKE HIS LAST NAME WHEN WE GOT MARRIED 52 YEARS AGO, WE ARE THINKING ABOUT NOW MAYBE COMBINING OUR NAMES. MAYBE SOMETHING LIKE PPROOTABULL. THAT WOULD SOUND GOOD. MAYBE SOMEONE WOULD NAME A TYPE OF CORN AFTER OUR LAST NAME.

ANYWAY I MUST GO FIND HANS NOW. I THINK HE MAY BE LOST IN A FIELD. OR MAYBE COSTCO.

As A 'Rebel' Mascot For Ole Miss, Who's Better Than Admiral Ackbar?

Let me say up front that I'm biased on this story.

My now 24-year-old son Matt was a huge Star Wars fan as a kid, and one character he particularly loved was Admiral Ackbar -- the Mon Calamari rebel commander who famously shouts "It's a trap!" in Return of the Jedi.

Matt's Admiral Ackbar action character was like a member of our family for several years back in the early '90s.

So hearing that some students at the University of Mississippi inadvertently started a movement to make Ackbar the school's mascot is bringing back fond memories for me -- and I, for one, like the idea.

As Morning Edition's Renee Montagne said this morning, Ackbar may be "pretty far out," but he is, after all, a rebel commander and that makes sense at Ole Miss.

Star Wars director George Lucas' Lucasfilm studios, by the way, has weighed in to say it's flattered by the possibility of Ackbar being the mascot -- though "it will be difficult for him to show up for the games!"

OK, so maybe it's just some college kids having some fun. But what about it?

What do you guys think? To me, it's a pretty awesome idea, and if Admiral Ackbar does become their new university mascot, I think that it would be amazing if my university changed their mascot from the Mountaineers to the EOU Tauntauns. It would totally work since we're in the mountains already and it'd be loads cooler than our current mascot....I mean, Tauntaun versus a mountaineer named "Monty":



Tauntaun wins in my mind. And imagine a Tauntaun galavanting around the sidelines at football and basketball games. That would be so awesome.

Since my school isn't cool enough to have actual bells that ring on the hour, at one point in time they went and purchased various recordings of songs played out in bells which are blasted from rooftop speakers from one building at the top of the hour.

Now, you would think that they would try to find more traditional songs that are normally played by bells as a substitute, but whoever is in charge of programming it found and plays bell versions of the Imperial March and the Star Wars main theme on a semi-regular basis. I think these two song choices makes up for any lack of coolness of my school not having actual bells.

Anyone else have wacky and quirky going-ons at their university or school or know of nearby schools that do? Also, we need more ideas and volunteers for the BrickFair mosaic project. We're closing in on 150 days and we'd like to start solidifying plans for it very soon.

My recycling bin is Azkaban.
The "switch between windows" option that I never use is the Room of Requirement.
The internet is Diagon Alley.
AIM is the Floo Powder Network.
Microsoft Word is Flourish and Blotts.

I still need a name for iTunes and a few other things, but there's not many music-related locations I can find in the Harry Potter world

Track meet this weekend! And, we need more volunteers for the BrickFair Bionicle Mosaic!
