Rarity could be element of magic!

Probably not going to happen, just because Trixie doesn't fit the same personality/interests niche as Twilight does. A big part of the show's appeal is its diverse and relateable main cast, and without an intellectual type it would lose a bit of that. Trixie's quality of showponyship would still help her stand out from the other five, but not as well as Twilight's nerdy bookworm persona.
