So with only minutes left in this year, I was able to finally buy Premier Membership for one year. Woo.
I am probably unlike most everyone else in that the perk than enticed me most to buy PMship was the Rank images. I love those things.
Anyways, today I went to a LEGO store in my area that I didn't know existed a week ago, here in San Diego. I hoped to but Black Phantom and Evo, but all they had was Splitface, Furno and Jawblade, all of which I own. I decided to buy Witch Doctor, and a few minutes after walking out of the store, went back to buy Bulk 3.0. This is kind of a big event. From January to mid October of
last year I did not buy any HF, so while I have most of the sets in the first, second and fourth wave, I had only 1/6 of Savage Planet sets.
Bulk's helmet is the best thing ever. It doesn't do much for me as an actual helmet, though he is still by far probably my favorite 2011 hero, but it's such an awesomely designed piece. So awesome. And those size 4 armor shells? All my yes. The weapons kind of suck though.
Witch Doctor was my first titan-sized villain since Von Nebula back in 2010, and he is amazing. The end result is very, very flawed: The empty head kind of sucks, especially since it could be fixed so easily, the torso is much too skinny, the whole thing is under-armored, the wing pieces in his launcher get in the way, the staff is too short, and the crotch is asymmetrical for some reason? And yet, I can not bring myself to dislike him at all. He was my first experience building anything bigger than a medium-sized set, which was very interesting. The whole design is custom, and he does look pretty great. And the parts, oh my. Not only does he have a more than fair parts-to-price ratio (Which can be said about pretty much no constraction fig nowadays), he has so many dang ball joints. I mean, I saw a lot of people around the forum saying that, but from the images I'd seen he had a decent amount, but nothing to get excited about. Then I get mine and find 39 of the things. Thirty nine ball joints. That is just an amazing amount. Just wow.
Anyways I'm typing this at 12:40 in the morning of January 1, 2012. The past year went by so fast, guys. ._.
