No seriously though I read all of his stuff and I know what you mean. Maybe I just hold myself to too high a standard. I can't bring myself to produce bad art that I want people to read...

Basically what Deevee said. When Jeph Jacques of Questionable Content started out, I could draw better than him! Ten years later, his art is some of the best around.
(his writing, on the other hand, is not, but hey that's not the point :3)
Basically, start now and by the time a lot of people start reading it you'll be a decent artist.
1. That is an excellent drawing (in this entry).

A lot of "famous" webcomics started while the artist wasn't exactly "good". Have you seen Dave Willis (of Shortpacked!) in his early strips? Terrible.
