Lighting on drawing
I was always going to for my avatars, but just for future drawings. Yes I know my avs are basic, but its helped me get a lot better at this stuff if you look along the list from latest to newest. Just experimenting and stuff.
What are you using to draw this?
GIMP2
Its free and really good.
Nice. I use Gimp as well most of the time. If I were shading this in gimp, I would prebably color select the main color for whatever chunk of the mask, then use the Blend tool and make one color the primary color for that section, the other a darker shade, and angle it howevr you want. Repeat for inner mouthpiece. Of course, there are better ways to do this, but this is a faster way (And easierto explain).
For the Reflective Spot, It's better to use the Dodge tool a couple times to lighten it, instead of using white..
Im a total GIMP noob so I should watch some tutorials.
Heh. Just try out and experiment with each tool until you figure them out. You'll get used to it. Eventually. It was the same trial-and-error process for me. ![]()
Good luck
Thanks dude.
I think Im getting better and better at it though.
I like using MSPaint better. It's less complex than GIMP.
Thats what I like about GIMP. I dont know if its me, but the cursor seems to be smoother as well.
