My mind is still trying to process it. I... I don't know what to think...

Some of me wants to be excited. It really does. I'd like to see a new movie.

But...

I swear to god if they make Mara Jade nonexistant...

well, Disney has handled Marvel pretty well so far

I'm optimistic that they'll at least be better than the prequels

Well; if they don't include any of the EU stuff that logically should be next, without a reason for them to not appear YET... We can just consider these movies non-canon, and go back to the EU. =P

Ditto what Ryuujin said. Disney hasn't screwed up either Marvel or Pixar. If there's anything wrong with the next Star Wars movie, I doubt Disney will be to blame.

My hopes arent that high for it being based of the books. Can you imagine those oldie actors coming back?

Marvel, Pixar, and so forth. We're still used to being impressed by Disney property. I think Disney loves Star Wars the way it is, they just want to see more of it and Lucasfilms has sort of stagnated on advancing its ideas. Disney has a way of making stuff big, what with their investments in pretty much everything. They're practically a self-sustaining small country.

But the movies were their own continuity. Comics have tons of those. So there was really no problem with introducing another one.

Star Wars has just one continuity with varying levels of canon. I'm still afraid they'll go the route of the Marvel movies and generally make their own story. It doesn't matter that it's Disney making it; it's the announcement itself about Episode 7 that has me worried. In fact, new information says the movie treatment already existed before it was bought. So Lucas has had this planned. It's not all Disney.
