The Simpsons

So LEGO's apparently in talks with Fox to work out a deal to make sets for... The Simpsons.

That's, uh, cool I guess. I mean, they're already yellow, so they'll make sense in classic minifig colors.

But The Simpsons is for a bit more of a mature audience, so I'm slightly confused why they'd go this route. But oh well. They'd probably sell.

Now, it is indeed just a prototype. So there's only one level... But it was fun to make.

And I'm now onto the team game, which will be a totally different game. Need to start working seriously on it over break though..

Didn't Get the Job

Barely a day later, I've been notified I didn't get that internship for Amazon I interviewed for.

So much for the week estimate they gave me on an answer... They were still interviewing people at my school alone today even.

As a friend who was also told no (and in his case it hadn't even been 24 hours), it's like "they didn't even consider us."

Oh well...

Amazon Interview

It was... okay.

Very, very, very technical.

And as I predicted, my 90 minute interview really was just a smashing together of the two 45 minute interviews most people go through. So it was split into two parts.

I think I did well enough in the first half, but in the second (which was about trees, which I'm not that great with/haven't fully covered yet in classes) I sorta fell apart...

The interviewers seemed really nice though. I guess that's a plus?

And that'd be bit for my first technical interview. I'm surprised I wasn't more nervous during it. But of course now I have to wait for their decision, which is sure to be loads of fun and not anxiety-inducing at all.

Internships

How the heck do you guys do it?

Those of you who have travelled great distances just for an internship.

How?

I was offered just an interview with Amazon - after not hearing anything for 5 months! - and can't bring myself to accept, just for the anxiety of going so far away. Being so alone there. But that's if I even get it, of course...

Not to mention I'm only now really learning about the algorithms and whatnot they'd be asking me about in the interview.

Add to that the stress of being given 5 days to decide...

And I'm a wreck right now.

Hip Action Figures of the Day - Star Wars

And here's the other line out of Toy Fair that has me most excited!

Also displayed were R2-D2 and a Sandtrooper. Together the four comprise the first wave. There's four more figures already planned but they're keeping them secret... But I'm sure one of them will be a retail Boba since the SDCC exclusive is him.

They look incredible in my opiion and I can't wait to get them!

There's a toooon of cool stuff that was shown off at Toy Fair, but beyond these and a metric ton more Transformers (which I could never fully cover well, there's so many), not much I'll probably end up buying. But they're all worth looking into if you want to look at some cool stuff for all sorts of different lines.

I never expected anything like this. I didn't see it coming at all.

I'm interested in learning how much he'll actually be able to move... That'll be really important.

But as it is, I'm thoroughly impressed. And saving money now. And coming up with a way to smuggle him back home/hope my parents finally accept that at 21 (which I'll be when it comes out), so long as I'm being responsible with my money, I can be into what I want.

But yeah.

Prepare for Hip Action Figures of the NYTF!

Toy Fair

It's New York Toy Fair time!

And already things have me going crazy!

Hasbro's Star Wars Black series, which they announced a few weeks ago, is finally going to get me into collecting Star Wars toys in addition to all those books. And of course the first announcement out of Toy Fair is what the first convention exclusive will be... Boba Fett with Han in carbonite. Why must the good things be exclusives?

But that's not the biggest thing..

Oh, no. Not at all.

I mean literally big!

Hasbro also announced that Fall of Cybertron's Metroplex will be getting a toy this year!

And it's going to be Twenty. Four. Inches. Tall!

It will quite literally become the new tallest Transformer in history.

There's also a goooood number of other FoC and Generations announcements (toys based off of the IDW comics! yes!) that have me stoked. I can't wait for pictures.

Which of cours I'll be assaulting you all with here once they're available. :3

Super Bowl

First of all, that power outage after half time was absolutely hilarious. Can't believe something like that happened and lasted so long.

And once it was restored, boy did the game pick up. Because let's face it, that first half was boring.

Then the end... that was a bit of a nail biter there. Or would have been if I were a Ravens fan lol. But it certainly did get close.

Congrats Baltimore. I'm looking forward to Pittsburgh getting back on top of things to knock you guys back down next season.

Got my first assignment in my game design class - make a game prototype on your own. It doesn't have to be flashy or even all that extensive. If you're making a level-based game, just one leve would even be good enough.

So I'm making a childhood favorite - DugDug!

And last night I chose to get a little creative with the sprites... And am henceforth renaming my game Diggy Diggy Hole.
