This was a really great weekend for me, mainly due to Hockey Weekend. On Friday I wore my Blackhawks practice jersey all day (Friday was the "Wear your hockey jersey" part of the weekend, as declared by USA Hockey); played NHL 11 on our XBOX 360 after school, and watched the Columbus Blue Jackets-Chicago Blackhawks game on Comcast SportsNet Chicago in the evening. On Saturday, I once again wore my Blackhawks jersey all day (but that was only because it is the only hockey-related article of clothing I own outside of my Blackhawks caps), and watched hockey on NHL Center Ice, since DirecTV gave us a free trial over the course of the week. Sunday was the best day, because NBC had its "Hockey Day in America" coverage of games, and our station showed the Detroit-Minnesota game, allowing me to see two games that were won in shootouts, and then watched the Tim Hortons Heritage Classic on Versus, and saw Mikka Kiprusoff earn the shutout outdoors. Unfortunately, I wanted Minnesota and Montreal to win, but so long as Chicago wins, who cares.
Yesterday, although not part of Hockey Weekend Across America, was at least considered part by our local minor league hockey team, so we went to the rink and watched our minor league team win 3-2. My parents are actually thinking of getting season tickets to that team for next season, which would be awesome.
