It's not "conforming" to hate Paypyrus- it's a "fun" font that is misused heavily (like Comic Sans). It is not an appropriate font for business, official matters, etc, and yet you'll find it everywhere. It's a matter of principle and purpose, like people wearing t-shirts to funerals. It's not okay.

That's because it's over-used to the point of being irritating. Plus, it's an eyesore, it's a really unattractive font. It's larger than normal fontsizes, and it looks awkward when scrunched down to be equal to other fonts. It's just weird. Comic Sans gets the hate because it was the only "fun" font for so long, that it was the default font, again, for everything. Everyone gets tired of things when they have to see them in so many places they don't belong and shouldn't be and yet is somehow inexplicably popular.
