So this evening I got home from work to find my sticky-note pads covered in very angry scribbling. My mother had written out, in all caps (quite a feat), rules for our laundry room. I have been named the Laundry Queen of the household, but sometimes my siblings try to wash their clothes and it becomes a mess. So I could only assume I was supposed to staple these furious scribblings up in my little kingdom. But a thousand sticky notes aren't very pretty. You know what's pretty? OPEN OFFICE. ♥ Also little explanations to drive the point home.

Laundry Rules & Guidelines
> Do not leave clothes in the washer overnight
I used to work with a dude who did this. He did not smell the moldy stench coming off his clothing, but everyone else DID. They DID NOT kindly notify him, however. It was a really hot summer to not have air conditioning, and at the end of the first week, my coworkers taped some pretty mean notes to the windshield of his car.
> Washer door must remain open when not in use
Did you know shutting the door creates a tight seal that allows mildew and other bacteria to thrive in the drum of the washing machine? Did you also know that new washing machines cost upwards of $700? Last I checked, none of you had paying jobs.
> If you spill soap – CLEAN IT UP!
The soap becomes very sticky and attracts dirt. Not to mention leaving messes makes you look like a dirty hobo who doesn't care. Get some exercise and fetch a paper towel, Oscar the Grouch.
> If it is not your wash day, ask before washing your load
If you don't have enough clean clothes to last you one week, there's a problem. If you need a certain outfit washed, it can be thrown in with one of that day's loads. I'm seriously thinking about putting all unauthorized washer loads inside the grill.
> Clean off the lint vent after every load!
Hey guys, I really like living in a house and having nice things. I don't know about you, but if our house were to burn down, I would be really sad. According to the National Fire Protection Association, as many as 15,000 fires start in the laundry room every year when lint from dryers builds up and catches fire. Those fires result in up to 19 deaths per year.
You guys are cool and I don't mind doing your laundry. But if you wanna be AWESOME, you'll make sure to check for these simple things. It's not hard. Also Mom will probably kill us all if she finds soap scum on the washer again.
