Guess who finally
finished The Hunger Games. Here's a hint: It's me! ...God, I hate being a slow reader.
It's weird how I always considered a positive social experience to be a success. I mean, today, I finished my day in a good mood, because I actually had a good laugh with my group in English Language. Bearing in mind this is the class I'd pretty much given up on trying to integrate with, due to on several times accidentally having them all think I'm completely insane. My group and I were mostly in hysterics when we became curious as to the origin of the custard cream. A quick search on the internet and we found this gem:
The Custard Cream was invented by accident in 1575 when Russian woodsman Vladimir Nabkotov returned home from work and was the victim of an elaborate practical joke by his second daughter, Antonina. It was especially unfortunate that she died in the ensuing fracas before Vladimir had actually tried the biscuits, and discovered to them to be really quite lovely. He spent the rest of his life wracked with guilt at her death, but he lived long enough to reverse-engineer the recipe, and ultimately published his findings to an enamoured 16th Century Russia. Custard creams have been with us ever since, and thank the good Lord for that !
We then spent a while pondering just what kind of prank could have ended with such tragic and delicious results.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to try and stop myself from buying more shirts with dragons and wolves on. I'm doubtful this will be successful.
