Tick tock

Yes, put away those video games, hide the actually interesting books and get out a whole storm of notes because it's first draft deadline time! I really need to stop leaving things until the last minute as I'm sure it doesn't offer much support for the overall quality of my work. And worst of all, I'm starting to exhaust my supply of mind-calming music, having gone through Oliver Shanti, the Journey soundtrack and now on the NieR one.

One thing I have to sincerely thank this assignment for is introducing me to the works of T.S. Eliot. Katherine Mansfield and Evelyn Waugh, whilst enjoyable, I can pass on. But the thing is, I've never been much of a fan of poetry and yet The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock has to be one of the most beautiful things I've ever read, as well as certain segments of The Waste Land

"There will be time, there will be time
To prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet;
There will be time to murder and create,
And time for all the works and days of hands
That lift and drop a question on your plate"

I have to say though, I'm quite annoyed my copy of Heart of Darkness didn't arrive before the upcoming deadline as I really wanted to use it as one of my external sources. I'm rather dubious they'd let me quote Spec Ops: The Line instead, in an essay about Modernism. I guess I'll make do with Kafka for now.
