E3 Thoughts

Dancing games are bad, but Wii Fit U is good? IT DON'T MAKE SENSE. And I wouldn't really class a black Wii U as a major positive, nor ports of games forming the core of what Nintendo has to show for Wii U.

Though I agree with you on most stuff. I'd move Tomb Raider and Sony Smash Bros to positives, mind, and God of War to negatives, definitely. I was never big on TR but this new one looks very good, and Sony Smash Bros is a rip off of a good game, and you can play as a Big Daddy, so it's fine by me. Not going to be mindblowing, but enjoyable.

Down with games like Call of Duty and Gears of War. I'd really like the market to be full of thinky-thinky games. Games like Watch Dogs, or The Last of Us, where you can FEEL the effort that has gone into the game. Also I worry that Dead Space 3 is going to get a bit Gears of War-y....hopefully it'll be fine in the end. At least Isaac Clarke is a better character than those in GoW.

When you think about it, Nintendo is actually being rather strategic about the games they'll have at launch. Wii Fit and NSMB were two of Wii's biggest cash cows, so launching with those games pretty much guarentees the monies for Nintendo at launch.

Personally, the two launch games I'll get are Pikmin 3 and Rayman Legends. I'll get Nintendo Land if it's discounted, but even then it really needs to be a pack-in.

Namely the reason Wii Fit U is a positive is it will encourage both myself and my boyfriend to exercise more. The pedometer will also encourage us to take walks/runs.

I find the Black Wii U to be sexy, so it gets a plus.

After seeing Tomb Raider, I have some serious issues with it, which I don't really wish to get into on here. As for Super Sony Bros. it seems to me like they are alrady running out of characters so now they are going to add third party characters. And, I honestly don't like the kill system in it at all.

They are, but it is a little too safe. They needed something that would impress everyone. Honestly, I know I want NSMBU as I know the game will be fun.

Pikmin 3 looks amazing as does Rayman Legends, but the one I'm looking forward too the most is Scribblenauts Unlimited. Someone made a living ferret-headed lamp. It shoots out librarians. This game has so much want from me. You can literally create anything.

Also, I'm hoping Watch Dogs will come to Wii U, and they did say it is a possibility. Heck, Miyamoto even gave it a thumbs up after a private viewing.

Interesting how you're quick to say "We don't need more dancing games," and "We don't need more CoD," but you're totally fine with more Wii Fit and more Mario. Paper Mario is great, but I'm getting sick of all this New Super Mario Bros nonsense. It's a cash cow, nothing more: there's practically no innovation. Just the same product repackaged.

Yeah, I'll admit it: I'm bitter.

Also, how can you come to the conclusion that Microsoft did better than Sony? Your pro-to-con ratio for Microsoft is 1:6, while your ratio for Sony is 1:1.75.

My biggest thought during E3 was basically "Yep, there's nothing new under this sun ... " It's mostly remakes and sequels, which is annoying.

I mean, it's all mildly cool. Some things are neater than others. But mostly I'm sad that they didn't talk about the next Animal Crossing. :< UbiSoft never disappoints, though, and their line up makes it better.

I also said that I need exercise. And for me, I don't mind more Mario, I love the NSMB series so for some games it is all a matter of taste. I'd rather see more of the colorful world of Mario than the brown world of most of these shooters.

Definitely needed more Animal Crossing. Honestly, I was shocked at how good Ubisoft looked. Normally, I'm not a fan of some of the things they've made, but they impressed me this year.
