A Message to Trolls

If you get so much enjoyment off of irritating random people over the internet, might I suggest irritating random people at Wal*Mart, or some other public location where people gather? I'm sure it'll be just as enjoyable if not more. Be sure to do it right next to the security officer too, for extra funs.

I meant to walk around as a stormtroper or as a dalek, or maybe wear reallly llong mostaches like snidley whiplash and stare at people. Not direct harassment.

People react a lot more differently on the Internet, because they only have text to express themselves, and all conversation is supposed to be open. That's why you think of trolling as something inherently different from typical harassment, and why Bulik would fail in doing so. It's a different dynamic.

Just me venting about the annoying people who seem to live for nothing more than annoying people without any way for the annoyee to extract revenge.

Hey, no kidding. I mostly wrote that because Bulik seemed so interested in that sort of public annoyance. (I hadn't seen his second reply to you.) Also, you seemed really mad.

By the way, the very fact that you wrote this means that you've let the trolls win.

Yes, well, the trolls I'm referring to probably have never heard of BZP, so yes, they've succeeded in making me angry, but it's highly probable that I've denied them the pleasure of seeing me angry. When actually confronted with trolls I tend to just go "love and peace man" and let them irritate themselves to death while they try to break me.

It's actually sticking with you like this, though. You got mad. They may not have seen it, but they broke you. It doesn't matter whether they see it, what matters is that you're getting bent out of shape, so much so that you bring it up on a public website.

Those trolls got over you minutes after their thread ended. There are a million people to anger. There are few who get so mad as to post passive-aggressive encouragements on the Internet. Whether the trolls see it or not, they've affected you; you care more than they do.

I prefer to get to know the people a little better first so then I can figure out what sets them off.

For example, saying that I'm a PC fan in my class where everybody else is primarily MAC fans.

Yeah, Gio, you're argument is sound ... Idunno, it's hard to describe, it's like a sensation of just not caring. I wouldn't exactly call this bent out of shape, simply me doing what I typically do when I meet a problem; snark on it and forget it.

Think of it this way; it's like meeting your friends and you talking about some of your problems with them over a cup of tea/soda/coffee. It's not raving mad, it's more like "oh this is one of the things that bug me." It's just for me that translates to snarking on it.

I've endured them. When they're exceptionally intelligent people, I sometimes wonder why they have to be that way, and it's especially difficult because they can find ways of flaming and degrading those they disagree with without causing anyone to feel any sympathy towards the person being attacked.

This blog is written by Alex Humva, penname of some random teenager named Alex Censored. He writes stories, writes rants, writes screenplays, plays games, makes games, has a terrible work ethic, and is generally sarcastic.
