So, insensitivity and equality

I could write a whole rant over the recent skirmishing over equality and freedom for all regardless of how you're born, but honestly I haven't read nearly enough of it to properly say something specific to it. So I figure a broader look can be done, but I doubt anyone wants to read a rant on it period.

So I give you this to think on; we loath and despise sin and wrongdoing because it hurts people. Stealing something takes something else away from a person or people. Murder removes life, something precious that can never be replaced entirely. Adultery causes emotional harm to the victim of it, though with that it's a bit more fuzzy. In general, when we think something is a sin, it's because there's a negative consequence to it. How you weigh out something that causes both positives and negatives is your own personal business and philosophy.

So I must ask, to all those who think that particular sexual orientations, something you can't even control, but even assuming you could control, is wrong and a sin, what negatives does it cause? What harm is done to us as a species?

Bonus question. How wrong is it that, by confronting someone over an act that causes no wrong, you yourself cause wrong by emotionally scarring that person? Perhaps you didn't mean to, perhaps you tried to be nice, and that can be applauded, but it's the straw that breaks the camel's back many times. You yourself may not cause harm, but combined with others, that constant act of telling that they are doing wrong, is harmful.

The Last Will and Testiment of Captain Oni

FTL is a game. You can buy it from Steam or Good Old Games. It's currently nine dollars. Buy it immediately. You will fail at it, this is a fact. But you'll have fun losing.

For instance, I had a guy, Captain Oni. A rebel ship went and killed my entire crew via boarding parties. As one last effort I opened all the airlocks to space and vented the atmosphere, but after the O2 generators were knocked offline. So Captain Oni sat, the air growing stale, but managed to punch coordinates into the nav computer and crawled to the sickbay, where modern technology kept him alive despite no oxygen.

This next jump happened to take him to a traveling band of space hippies, which he befriended and they gave him gifts and told him to go to another ship. The following battle was hilarious and Captain Oni was forced to retreat. Then he found an abandoned space station with a girl, guy, someone named Kadreal. Together, they managed to repair the O2 in time and the Kestrel survived another day.

They met a teleporting giant space slug merchant and then were blown up in an ion storm by a remote drone that had one bar of health left. And so ended the career of Captain Oni.

Really, the game is great for coming up with these things.

Just realized (warning, star wars nerdiness ahead)

So you know that scene from Star Wars Episode III, where Obi-Wan kills General Grievous with a below average blaster? It's hilarious in hindsight because, here's this guy who's suppose to of killed at least four Jedi, and he goes down to a simple drone blaster?

Then you think back to Episode IV, during Han Solo's minirant about how hokey religions and ancient weapons don't mean anything when you have a good blaster at your side. Besides the fact that this was a subpar blaster, holds pretty true, don'tcha think?

Sadly I don't think that was Lucas' intent though.

This blog is written by Alex Humva, penname of some random teenager named Alex Censored. He writes stories, writes rants, writes screenplays, plays games, makes games, has a terrible work ethic, and is generally sarcastic. He believes in a Judao-Christian god, but most other people who do too give him a glare because of his weird beliefs, possibly because he's somehow bi at the same time. He's an utter equalist who feels that any discrimination amongst humans for things they were born with is wrong. He doesn't care about xenos though, let them all burn.

He's also an aspiring engineer who hopes to get a scholarship at his local big engineering college and one day help humanity. More likely he'll be a pencil pusher in a basement somewhere, but he's a bloody minded optimist.

Because of his peculiar personality and beliefs, he gets into fights often, though they usually end when he wakes up the next morning and doesn't feel motivated anymore.
