Out Of Time

Well, forget what I said yesterday about doing both the PotW and the DCotW. I ran out of time, although it wasn't quite caused by the wierd and unusual powers of the Duelmaster creature that I will review today. But at least I'm definately doing it right now.

So yeah, here it is, once again, starring:

Mihail, Celestial Elemental!

Aside from Aeris, Mihail is the lowest of the Angel Commands on the rarity ladder, but she offers a pretty good power that is the only one of its kind. Its high Mana cost aside, once Mihail is in play no more creatures can be destroyed. This can be both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, whenever you try to destroy an opponent's creature by attacking it, the attack fails and both creatures become tapped because they've been used. On the other hand, your Blockers and own creatures cannot be taken out themselves. Once Mihail is down, this effect can only be stopped by destroying her, but with invincible Blockers surrounding it, this can rarely be done except perhaps by a destroying spell or a slayer.

Hence, a good Blocking Light deck is recommended to put her in. Theoretically, (since I don't own this card, unlike many of the DCoTWs) the best method is to attack your opponent's Blockers with some of your smaller creatures or Blockers who can attack creatures, in order for them to become tapped. Then, once this protective barrier is down, just hammer your opponen't shields until they are down, and attack for victory. Of course, this could prove slightly risky if you have less attackers than the opponent has Blockers, in which case they can use Mihail's strategy against you to win, just like shooting yourself in the foot.

Ballom's Rating: 2.5/5. While her ability can be a good end-game if correctly done, Mihail can also give your opponent the same opportunity as well.
