Archives Topics and Logging in Produce IPS Driver Error

Posted by fishers64 on Feb 23 2013 - 06:42 PM

IPS Driver Error

There appears to be an error with the database.
You can try to refresh the page by clicking here.

This error occurs whenever I try to access topics in the archive boards or log in to the archive boards.  I suspect that both topic and user data for said area is missing.

Yep, we know. I thought there was a ticket already, but I guess someone just posted about it somewhere. We have a backup and can restore all that, it's just not on our priority list as we're focusing on the main forums.

I'd love this to be fixed, altought the news stories issue goes first.

Argee with Dual, though I would like to see the archives. Feels,...strange somehow.

Actually, I would rather the archives be fixed first, as I have a couple of projects/logs that refer to and use it, but I understand that the world doesn't revolve around me. :P

I think everyone has this issue now. I wish that hacker that messed up BZPower never exsisted!

Well, the news articles have been fixed. Are the archvies going to be fixed next?

The news stories have not been fixed, but we are doing what we can.

That hacker made quite a mess, didn't he?

I really hate to sound like I'm being pushy; I'm merely curious - is there any hope of this being resolved soon? I'm attempting to compile a reference database for an OTC RPG we're planning to move off-site due to a decrease in interest lately, and over three years of the RPG is buried in the Archives. My hands are tied until I can access that info, and the project's essentially grinding to a halt.

I assume that I and fishers64 can't be the only ones wanting/needing access to the Archives, and they've been down for almost three months now. That's ten years of information, roughly four-fifths of the site (and the relevant portion, considering BIONICLE ended around the same time the new forum came up), that is completely missing. I realize that the main forums are more important, and I agree with that to a degree, but the news stories are still accessible - however awkwardly - in their respective talkbacks, whereas this is simply gone. I'm not aware of any other major problems with the site, as I don't spend much time in the tracker, but this seems to be one of the two biggest issues right now, and from what I can tell it's taken a backseat to everything else.

Again, I'm not trying to sound petulant or demanding, I'm just interested in seeing this fixed, or at least knowing when I can get back to work on my reference database. :)

Unfortunately I do not have the backups so I cannot work on this directly. I've been working with Binkmeister to try to resolve this as soon as we can.

Sad to hear that, hower glad you are working on it, remember the excistance of web archives if you need lost files...

If the archives was completely restorable from web caches, this wouldn't even be an issue. It's probably better to get one backup file and restore it all at once.

Well, since B6 wants all issues pertaining to the archives in this ticket, might as well repost the latest update to this problem:

At long last, the plague of the IPS Driver errors has been lifted from the BZPower Forum Archives.  Alas... all is not well.  Entire pages of posts are missing from nearly every topic.

For example, Dino Attack RPG should be well over 200 pages, but has been reduced to only 2 pages.  And even so, these two pages do not correspond to the first two pages of the topic; note that it jumps suddenly from Jul 22 2005 to Feb 27 2006 to Jun 24 2008 on the first page alone.

I do hope that this is only a temporary issue that will be resolved as the Archives continues to be restored from the back-up... I just hope that this is not an issue with the back-up itself.
