I think it works as is. Nightmare Moon is a lot more striking and when I first saw it my eyes went straight to her.

And why not just stack them? The one on the right above, the one on the left slightly below (think like a shadow).

In any case, not sure if these images are something you drew or just something form the show, but if you drew them the cut off the neck is really weird. just sort of fades into nothingness.

This is a vector I made.  The right one's pose was more "original" but the left one I just sort of stole right out of the show.  I did the neck cutoff thing partly because this is supposed to be an internal battle and partly because the object layering was starting to get messy enough already (I'm really an amateur when it comes to vectoring, if the finished product ends up looking good it's because there are a million unnecessary clips and duplications).  The fade-out wasn't planned, but more of a flip-the-table "okay I'm done with this" thing.

 

Also I might've done the layer/shadow thing, but the aura kind of gets in the way of that a bit.  I think I might revisit this in the near future to make it blend better, but for now it is what it is.
