Monsters University

personally I think a Monster's, Inc. prequel is a bit unnecessary

especially with how bad Cars 2 turned out

(granted, I didn't like the first Cars either)

but

Mastodon are writing and recording a brand new song for it

so there's that

Oh, it is a prequel? Good to know.

I personally think anything would be better then Cars 2, so I am excited.

I liked both Cars and Cars 2. Neither was as deep as Pixar's strongest films, like Wall-E, Toy Story 3, and Up, but they were both filled with hilarious automotive references that explored the unusual subject matter of the films in imaginative ways. Sometimes you want a film that really affects you emotionally, but sometimes it's OK to enjoy something for being unabashedly silly.

A prequel to Monsters, Inc. certainly isn't necessary. Prequels and sequels almost never are if the original story is not written with a prequel or sequel in mind. But if the creators have a story they want to tell, you can't fault them for telling it. Of course, I am wondering how they can possibly make it as heartfelt as Monsters, Inc. when this will take place before the critical character development that made Mike and Sulley so sympathetic and endearing in the original.

And without Boo. How can you make a Monsters movie without Boo?

Well, it looks like the film might be about how the two became friends - if the teaser is anything to go by, Sulley picks on Mike in the beginning. So... character development to be had there.

A... a prequel? :U

Interesting, I'd rather a sequel, though who knows, this might be great.
