This all comes completely from this conversation I once heard in a college costume department:

"I'm going to marry someone who looks like Gerard Butler. It's going to be awkward, though, when my husband eventually asks why I married him. Instead of giving him a deep reason - [switches to awkward voice] 'because you look like Gerard Butler?'"

She was actually very pretty, so since at the time I didn't know what Gerard Butler looked like (but knowing that I tend to look like a lot of famous people), I kind of hoped I looked like him.

Then I found out later that she's dating one of my best friends. Man, I felt stupid.
